Has anyone heard of or used xero clothing? My mrs got a jacket for a tenner from charity shop, has ce armour, removable inner, feels very warm, and for a tenner seems a bargain to be honest! Unless its gonna fall apart as soon as it gets used!
It’s obviously not gonna replace my arlen ness jacket any time soon but be interesting to know if it will keep the rain out and hold together in an off.
I got myself a 2 piece textile suit made by RSR used off eBay for £50 including delivery. The thing has British flags all over it but with closer inspection it had a big white label saying ‘MADE IN PAKISTAN’. All that went through my head was how much sewing skill has the 5 year old Pakistani in the sweat shop have and how good are the materials used? However, after sliding off at some speed on Friday the stitching stayed intact and a couple of holes.
Went on eBay and found identical replacement trousers for £23 delivered and I’m going to repair the jacket as only the pockets ripped.
The only advice I can give you is give it a proper once over. Pull the seams and make sure they are properly stitched. Bare in mind if they fall apart by you pulling them they will not stand a chance against tarmac. In terms of waterproofing Nikwax will make anything waterproof.
Can’t help you with the jacket, but a thumbs up for charity shops for bike gear, last summer I got a pair of boots, don’t know the make, but they are made in the UK, have a Commando sole, Cambrelle lining and very good quality leather, I think they could be police issue boots, wore them all last summer and a few times so far this year.
Glad your ok. I came off last month, had a spada textile jacket on and not a mark on it but I’ve wore leather every ride since as it was abit of a reminder that it happens to everyone at some point!
Not being a labels snob, I’ll give the thumbs up to anything that does what it’s supposed to do and does it well.
I bought an un branded rain top in a charity shop a few years back as anything was better than nothing and I’d just lost mine from the back of the bike. Looked pretty decent and for £3:00, what the heck. It lasted 5 years before it started to leak.
(Now replaced with a Lidl one that seems to work just as well so far.)
Let’s hear it for charity shops, and stuff that works.
With respect to motorcycle gear, people working in Charity shops seldom know its real value. The shoe shine guy at Ledenhall market said he picked up a Ducati leather jacket for £10 from a charity shop.
Not sure that this is something to boast of or feel guilty about, but my son bought a set of top end of range immaculate Alpinestar leathers for £20 in a charity shop.
Then the porker put on weight and couldn’t get into them.
