im with those guys now, got best deal as well. was with mce but once they’ve put compulsory excess cover to £800 l ditched them (bike is worth £1600 - its no brainier!)
I had insurance with Bennetts a few years back and the breakdown service was provided by the RAC - was pretty prompt the one time I needed it for a flat tyre.
Be careful with Bennetts, especially with add ons.
I ditched then mid way through my insurance policy (losing 6 months worth of pro-rata NCD) because they wouldn’t cover me for putting on a carbon fibre swing arm cover on the S1000R.
@yourebarred - some of it will be covered depending on cover anyway… mine is tpft as I’ve lost my nc as not been on a bike for 3 years. seperatly though it is worth circa £200 it really is a good deal…
This is my second year with Bennetts. Both times they’ve been by far the cheapest, have the most comprehensive list of extras included in the price and have the lowest excess (I think mine might even be a big fat zero). AND I’ve had money back via Quidco for both the policies. Ker-chingggg
Whenever I’ve had to contact them, the staff have always been really polite and helpful. However, as I’ve never had to make a claim from them, I wouldn’t know how they rate on most important part of the service.
In regards to the included breakdown cover - It’s not really applicable to my latest policy with my latest bike as I haven’t had to use it, but my previous Triumph was a total biatch and made up any excuse to flounce around and refuse to go. For several years I relied heavily on the breakdown cover that came with my insurance policies and used it on what seemed to be a regular basis. Whether the bike had broken down or I’d had an off, there was never any issues and I always got picked up and taken to where I wanted to go, no quibbles.
Read the small print with Bennets, similar experience as Hogtrumpet, Bennets wouldn’t insure my change of vehicle so had to cancel the policy with only a couple of months left, thought I’d end up being payed out pro-rata @ least, the cheaky fuckers wanted money from me to terminate before the year was up first time I’d ever come across that in all my years of driving
A bit of advice regarding cancelling mid policy.
If you change your address to a location outside London (or any cheaper place than you currently live), then cancel you will likely get a refund for the rest of the year prorata because you usually pay the years insurance over 8-10 months, rather than 12 equal payments.
They do this so they get the lions share of the premium in case you cancel mid year.
Changing to a cheaper address means you get a prorata refund of the bit you were paying for ahead of the date of cancellation.
It is the only way I know to claw a bit of cash back from them.
