We need to sell our beloved campervan Betsy, which we have owned for 2 years, enjoying trips to Norfolk, Bristol, Bournemouth and the Midlands for the Festival of 1000 Bikes last July. Unfortunatley, she has been laid up since then, with an ignition problem being diagnosed by the recovery truck driver.
I then replaced the old points distributor with an electronic unit, and she fires up now but runs rough until the engine warms. Tax ran out last October, and MOT expired in November. Bodywork is a bit rough in places, but she passed the last MOT I took her for in November 2007. All 4 tyres have plenty of life left in them! During the last 2 years I have also replaced the headlights, alternator, carburettor, drivers side door lock and fitted a new wheel cylinder to the rear offside brake. There is a push-bike rack on the left back door, with a spare wheel on the right door. I’ll try to post pictures tomorrow.
It’s a 1981 2.3 litre petrol model, sleeps 4 - roof pops up and bunk beds roll out, sink, hob and grill, fridge (works on electric and gas), zig unit fitted with leisure battery, 240v hook-up. Mileage is reading 119530 but I have no way of knowing how accurate this is.
We recently bought a car and simply cannot afford the time or money required to bring Betsy back to being a reliable and roadworthy vehice. I estimate that an investment of approximately £300 would be reasonable. The back silencer need replacing, as do the seat covers for the cushions/ bedding on the crew seats in the back. The front door have the trim missing but all doors shut and lock.
We’re sad to see her go… especially the kids, but I hope she goes to a good home. We paid just under a grand for her, and as you will know, a CF250 in good nick will fetch over £2000.
PM me if you need to know anything else, and then you can come and get her.
