No, im out of this one im afraid, i wasnt sure if i was going to be leaving with Abbeyj at 6am on sunday morning anyway, as we were doing the sat from 6pm…she cant stay any longer than that as she has other things to do, and i was going to leave with her unless i was able to make it further until midday end.
If it’s only a mile I’m not sure that I want to “spectate” for 12 hours!!
I don’t feel there is a need for a “dummy” run on saturday or sunday… people can look at the map in the provided book and “cheer” the walkers on at their on chosen points. If there are also “No vehicle” areas we are gonna be up against “moving freely” around the route.
I must admit this has truely pi55ed me off too…

Eerrrmmmm…I ain’t had an email. Can someone let me know what’s going on so I can work out whether I’m cancelling the cheque or not?
No-one knows for sure what is going on, apart from Top Gooner (and i believe others) who’ve had a email stating its off, as we can see on here. Dont know the reasons for this, and i cant believe it was because i had pulled out, all i do know is personally im not happy to be receiving certain insulting texts, after all the work ive put in trying to help get this going, im not going into it all again as ive put it in above post? but i will say this, i also sent some choice texts back, so i cant complain really 
I can take insults but not when i dont think they are justified and aimed at me for no apparent reason.
Personally, if i want to go and stand and cheer and clap for the last mile of this walk, i can still do it, i dont have to pay to do that…or do any of the other things i got involved with doing, and this never was about self gratification…and im sure if you guys still want to go along you can of course. If anyone wants a pink bra i can still dye those pink for you too, i will be having them delivered to me as i couldnt stop them being sent out…(i am thinking of selling them on ebay and sending what i make to the Moonwalk people, as they were intended for this cause anyway)
I still stand by what i said, that Barro, with all good intentions at the beginning, was misled and in turn could only mislead us, as that was the only info he had on the matter at that time…if anyone wants to take that as a slur on him, then i cant help the way the mind thinks !! (to state to the organisers that there would be around 60 bikes was a slight miscalculation, (!!!) seeings at the time there was only about 10 people with bikes interested).
When this first came up i was told not to really be interested in it, for reasons im not going to divulge…nontheless i wanted to take part so yes personally i feel let down, and again, stress not by the people who worked behind LB to get this going, but by someone on the organizers side that didnt relay the right information. I havent even touched on the non vehicle areas either…as Top Gooner has said above…FFS we’re supposed to be riding the route…err doh !!!Feel sorry for M9 actually, who put a lot of work in (as i expect Barro did to tbh) but he actually cancelled work that weekend, so losing out on business, he had contacted Skynews and other tv channels and local newspapers to drum up support, hes got to return other stuff that was sent to him for us to use on the day, guess flags, sort of thing…and apologise. Abbeyj had some Met Police pals wanting in on this to help out too that she will have to inform now. So its not just a case of saying “the plugs been pulled” and thats that…unreal.
What a bunch of bullsh1t, i want my fuking money back. I signed up to do the whole thing not stand and clap for a couple of hours, anyone can do that and i aint getting up at 5am to do it! And having to pay for it…!
Sorry to say the cheque is cancelled im doing 2 other charity events in the next couple of months, and im doing the whole of each of them, not just part time.
I had know complaints up until i recieved the letter yesterday, and not even getting a chance to be on the bike, its not what i signed up for, so apologies but no.
This is a real shame that this is happening, as I went down to the offices in Woking specially to give my cheque and details this last Wednesday.
If the plug has been pulled, can it be made official by noting on the first message on this thread, and or a new sticky thread.

Alright folks I’ve spoken to Charly (CharlyCBR600) just now and he and MikeM9 are going to continue with the event with whoever is still up for it.
He’s despatching at the moment so can’t post up himself, so I’m doing it for him.
His message was along these lines:
a) the event is still on
b) the team of marshals is still needed, 10 is the minimum and Chaz reckons 20 would be better.
c) it will be to cover a mile of the course, helping the walkers across crossing points and generally looking after them (remember they might be in a bit of a state by the time you see them).
d) it’s not a bike based event, there will be buses laid on from Hyde Park to get the teams out to their various sections. There is some parking in HP but that’s for everyone and so no guarantees. If you can get in by public transport that might be a better option.
e) Your money will be refunded if you have changed your mind, or you could cancel your cheque if it’s not cashed yet.
f) the planned recce run this weekend has no merits for your involvement, so Charly and Mike are not going. Given the limited role you’ll all be playing there’s nothing to gain from a practice.
Chaz’ll be online as soon as he can to fill you all in on the details, sometime over the weekend I’m sure.
Is the team of marshals only required from 6.30am sunday morning to midday to take over from the moonwalk team of marshals that wouldve been there from saturday night?
I dare say charly will be able to answer that Jules, PM him if you want the answer asap but he is out on his bike all day working.
He’ll be posting up over the weekend, so be patient if poss.
this is a real pity that this has all happened.
Unfortunately I cannot do the Sunday morning as I have other commitments. I wont cancel the cheque as that at least will cover some of their costs.
But I dont think I will offer assistance for this in the future. Sorry but like Claire says there are other charities out there who are far more appreciative of any assistance that is offered.
