cool… I’ll ring them to check if it comes pre-charged etc because I don’t have anything to charge it up with and it doesn’t say so in the ad, whereas the ultramax covers all those points (and is cheaper)…
Could my SMC finally have leccy start again after more than a year???
I am pretty sure mine arrived charged and ready to rock but its a gel . Acid traditional ones you just pour in the acid leave it for a bit and then plug it in and its good to go … no charging required .
About 7-8 years old from what I can tell… although the bike was seldom used. Then it got completely drained one day when someone left the lights! :Whistling:
Never recovered from then… I’ve used a charger on it but nothing. It powers up for a bit but loses all charge very quickly.
Just making sure its the battery thats dead and not the charging system.
There’s an eBay store doing a clearance on Yuasa batteries. Some as low as £40.
Ignore just read the description: The new Yuasa TTZ range of batteries have been recently introduced as an alternative to the ultra-high performance Yuasa YTZ batteries which are fitted as original equipment to many of today’s top-of-the-range motorcycles.
But: CAUTION: This battery is no longer recommended by Yuasa for installations where it is mounted on its side. - unfortunately on the KTM, it’s on it’s side If your battery is fitted this way we recommend replacing it with the YTZ10S which is approved for fitting in this position.
Is there an easy way to test the charging system? This makes me look more to the cheaper variants… haven’t found that store, do you have a link?
Honda subsidise batteries, so find the yusa model nr you need, then find out which Honda uses the same battery and get one of them from a Honda dealership for about half the yusa list price.
I figured the superduke uses the same battery as a 1600 pan, so got a yusa from one of the Honda spares places online for half the price
