Hey Guys an Gals, I ve just spent 4 months off the road due to my marauder getting lifted from outside my place of work. Pickin up another bike this weekend, so excited, fed up with minglin with the masses on the buses! Will be down Borough Market next week, checkin out Ally Pally on sunday and will be back at the Ace, yes-aiiiye!!! New to London Bikers.com, great to stumble across the site, look forward to meetin some of yas an gleening useful info on mechanix, LX an simping! Look out for the blonde, short haired chick on the cheap an blong ( a cross between wrong an bling!) motorcycle.
Welcome to LB - there’s a few of us going down Ally Pally on Sunday, should be good.
Short blonde hair is great. I miss mine.
Morning Hanna, Thanx, another female biker, we seem to be a rare breed? hope to cross paths at some point. Have a good friday and an even better weekend!
Hi and welcome
Hi and welcome aboard.
Hey Guys, nice welcomes, makes me feel all warm inside!!Look forward to hangin with some local bikin folk, been travellin miles lookin for ‘soul mates’ !
My profile pic is of my Yam Genesis Exup 400, i m havin a whole load of trouble with it, i posted a note on bike talk, under sports, if any one can assist me, i d be sooo grateful… not in too much of a hurry wiv it cos i m not really licensed to ride it, got restricted but i want direct, failed it twice kickin over the bloody road cone in the obstacle avoidance-when i do it in practice, or to avoid a pedestrian in real time round london town, i m fine, but i get on the mod 1, i loose it. drivin me mad cos my instructor sais he cannot fault my road ridin, heard a rumour the dsa are gonna drop the obstacle avoidance- has any one else heard this?
hi welcome
I had the same thing. Practice sessions faultless. Got to the test centre and buggered it up on more than one occasion.
Target fixation I’m told is the cause. Ended up getting really worked up with nerves and had to learn some breathing techniques to get over the nerves. Managed to learn to get over the target fixation (thanks to my wonderful training schools) and the nerves (thanks to the breathing techniques) and breezed through without hesitation or any faults found.
I wouldn’t wait for them to drop the avoidance maneuver - these things take time, and lots of it. Feel free to drop me a line if you want to talk it over.
I agree with Hanna, no way the DSA can drop the avoidance part of Mod 1, the only thing they MAY be able to do is reduce the speed requirement, if the conditions are poor. The amount of practise we did, with our facilities and, as you say, it is still down to how you perform on the day! When doing Mod 1, try to make sure you look at the gap, between the blue cones, NOT the blue cones themselves. I know it sounds obvious but you would be surprised how many inside blue cones I have see flying through the air, eh, Hanna?
welcome to LB
Nice one. Public transport sucks
Welcome to LB.

thanx for welcomes and tips. I m not gonna wait, like Hanna says, the dsa will not drop obstacle avoidance, i dont wanna wait but money is making me at the moment, especially as the bike i just bought has a buggered head stock bearing! i keep telling myself its all a learning curve. each bike i buy, i learn a stack of new things - hopefully, soon , i ll be an expert with a fantastic bike ! ! :w00t:
didn t make it to Ally Pally, sadly. was a good time had by all? My mate won a second place with his custom triumph, right proud of him…
Thanx for the mod 1 tips, shall focus on the blue cones. I ll be in contact Hanna - much appriciated.
