Anyone used Viton sheet before?

Loctite SI 5980 flange sealant vs 95 RON unleaded petrol

Not a very scientific test. Sealed a 2 mm wide slit with a 5 mm bead of Loctite SI 5980 and left for 24 hours to cure. Submerged in petrol and left for a further 24 hours. While there was no leakage there was sufficient deterioration and crumbling of the Loctite SI 5980 to conclude it does not fare well in contact with petrol.

Thanks NT, that’s good enough for me to avoid it.

These guys might be able to help: https://www.martins-rubber.co.uk/industries/motorsport/

If you’re looking for a longer-lasting sealant for your tuno’s tank, better to get one custom-made. There’s loads of different grades of Viton so you need to make sure the right grade is being used for your sealant or it won’t last as long.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Ryan, I was trying to compensate for the warping in the tank but it doesn’t seem to work like that. I’m working on a clamp and heat gun idea to force the tank back into shape at the moment.

how thick is the tank ?
I deck sanded my daytona tank flat as i had a similar issue
i used JB weld 2 pack glue to fill in the difference then deck sanded the tank flat again

not thick enough to sand down, the warp is further than the skin is thick.

Build the low points up with JB weld then just sand down till is flat
