Well the blade is nearly good as new, after finishing a total gearbox rebuild, all bearing & seals replaced etc, I was ready to put her back together, only when I did the clutch springs back up, they wouldn’t reach the torque setting in the book(12Nm).
Does anyone know if I should change the springs for new ones after taking them out ?
when i put the bolts back in , the clutch lever didn’t have the same pressure on it as before when pulling it in.
it was spot on, only done 3k miles, loads of lie in it yet.
have ordered some new springs from david silver’s, might be here next week.
Change the springs. It may be a waste of effort but it will keep you happy.
When you strip any engine/gearbox/drive bevel box nothing goes back together just like it used to be.
Things move small amounts and little bits add up and you are “absolutely sure” something is not right. It commonly is, but you’re not going to be sure and confidence is everything.
If your 'Blade has only done 3,000 miles I think new springs would be a waste of money. What it sounds like is tadjustment of the clutch mechanism.
Not sure exactly how your 'blade one works but usually there is a grub screw and locking nut on the end of the clutch push rod.
Undo the lock nutScrew the grub screw in so that it touches the push rodBack the screw off 1/4 turnTighten the lock nutYou should now have the same pressure at the lever:)
