anyone on here good with Carburetor problems? (1997 ZX6R)

ok so i have a pretty old zx6r and just yesterday i had the carbs taken apart and cleaned / re calibrated because the bike wouldn’t idle…after warming the engine with the choke it would just cut out.

so i took the bike to be fixed and sure enough the bike now idles fine but the mechanic sayd that i have a “flat spot”. now it didn’t have this before and whats happening is once i reach around 7k rpm the revs are not going any higher…then i shift gear and i cant get past 6k revs…and so on…

i will be taking the bike back to them today as before they messed with it the revs (while riding) were fine, i just had to keep a little throttle on so that it didn’t cut out.

i suppose im looking for assurance that my bike shouldn’t be doing this.
if you have had similar experience or know your way around an engine and think this shouldn’t be happening i would really appreciate your input.

Out of curiosity, have you checked the fuel filter is clean/clear?

i wouldnt even know how to do that, i have absolutely no knowledge about the inner workings of any vehicle… i just know that the go go is suddenly no no. :frowning:
