Any trustworthy mechanics in the Epsom/Chessington area?

Recently moved into the area (9 months ago :Whistling:) and in need of a local garage that I can trust and that would accept Kawasaki. (Tippetts in Tolworth are good, but only deal with Honda and won’t look at anything else )
Also, needs to be able to supply a loan bike whilst mine is on the operating table.
I’ve used Hartgate Motorcycles in Mithcham for years, but they’re too far now, especially if I need to take the bike in in the morning before going to work.

Any suggestion?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, its far away, but i really recommend Steve Grover of MotoScot in Hertfordshire. Hes an ex MotoGP & IOM TT Mech and racer.

Hmmmmm, he is saying the <10 miles to Hartgate is too far, so I’d guess 50+ miles is probably too far. Just a wild guess.

a guy from work has recommended “southern speed” in sutton to me - havent used them yet

MD racing is in Walton on Thames… More Ducati focused but does other bikes as well. Used him on my Suzuki and he did good work

And of course you have Steve Jordan in great bookham who deal in pretty much all bikes.

Both very good

Never too far for a good spanner in my opinion. But each to their own… Least I offered an option :ermm:

True enough.

This guys are the closest to where I live:

and
Chessington Motorcycles: http://www.chessingtonmotorcycles.com/news.php

Any experience with them?

MotoScot look very professional, but 60 miles from where I am, so that would be a no, BUT…
… I will consider them for my next big service (valve clearance :() if they don’t quote me the earth.

Alex, you know the area well.
Who do you usually use and do they provide a loan bike?

I usually go to OMC and do it myself - have done so for the past year… Not used any in the Epsom area (other than the ones mentioned) as when I first started riding and always took the bikes to mechanics, I took it to places in London.

I’ve also used Adz (admoto care) in the past who came and picked the bike up for me and then brought it back.

But like I said, now I try to do as much as possible myself…

Walton Road Garage at Hampton Court, despite specialising in scooters and cars, have very knowlegable and experieinced mechanics and will work on anything. They are a family firm of longstanding and have always gone the extra mile for us in sorting things out. They have always been able to lend me something, although it will almost always be a scooter, although sometimes an 850cc one. Jackie and I have no qualms taking our Aprilia, Honda and Ford there.

I really wish I could say the same, but no chance :crying:
I can fix a puncture, and that’s how far it goes :Whistling:

Thanks guys, I’ll contact a couple of the recommended and give them a go.

If you go to OMC, you’ll learn to do it yourself

If you want to do any work yourself and ever need a place to work I have a proper heated/lit garage (attached to my house with a supply of tea and biscuits) and tools for most jobs in Surbiton. I am only an amateur mechanic but happy to help out with basic servicing

Cheers,

Ed

And February’s legend award goes to…

You’ll now have an LB queue half way down your street:D

+1 for Mark at SouthernSpeed.

HM Racing, Edenbridge, kent… Bob Farnham Racing, Gasoline ally, Seton Tuning, Colchester, wouldn’t use anyone else.

HM Racing are my favourite though, excellent service!!

Another vote for MD Racing
Mike used to live in Ewell and Surbiton and his old workshop was in Leatherhead (hence the junction 9 website) so he regularly does collections and drop offs in your area.
He probably could also loan you a bike but dont quote me on that
He and Matt are the only people I happily let work on my bikes
