Anonymous letter from neighbours regarding my 'noisy bike' !!!

I think you have polite, restrained and considerate neighbours.

There are alot of people who wouldn’t be writing polite letters if you were p1ssing them off, they’d be splashing around the brake fluid or oil/nails on the driveway to make their point.

My zxr 400 has no exhaust pipes on at the moment would you like me to bring that round?

your bike needs longer to warm up by the SOUND of things lol:D

I think if its a polite request, but left anonymously, then pop round and find out who it was - see what the problem is. Its always good to keep your neighbours onside - it might be them that chases off a thieving chav poking about your bike.

However, some people cant be pleased. I park my bike several doors down from my flat - where I can chain it round the lamp post.

Snotty french girl in the flat next to the bike had her head out the window one morning complaining about my bike noise. Despite the fact that it was 10am on a weekday, it was a fair-enough request/complaint.
I had been leaving it running on choke for a couple of minutes while I took the cover back inside & came out with helmet & gloves, took off the chain and rode away. Like anyone, I wanted to warm the bike before riding & making use of the preparation time in the morning made sense.
So, I decided to do the right thing - and I only warmed it long enough to take the choke off - while putting my gloves & helmet on before riding away & just took it very easy until it had warmed up. So instead of running outside her flat for 2mins - it was more like 10-20sec.

However, this wasnt good enough for her, as again, one morning, she had a hissy fit out the window. I explained to her that it was not good for the engine to ride away cold - but I was already doing it. For her. I explained that I was also cutting the engine and coasting down the street when I came in at night. She asked me to park somewhere else - so I pointed out this was the only lamp-post on the street that had parking access to it & the need for security. She threw up her hands and disappeared.

Some time later, she had another rant - but I was in a hurry and couldnt stop to talk. But when I got back early that evening I decided to go round have another chat with her. I was trying to be nice. Despite the fact she showed her face at her window, her flatmate informed me that she wasnt home. Now, I had never been anything but calm, rational and understanding - never yelled at her or even raised my voice - but now she didnt want to see me to talk about it?

Fine. I told her flatmate I knew she was home - and as far as I was concerned, she could go f herself. My bike had standard cans - its not that loud - and I was leaving 10am FFS!

Its always good to try to keep people on-side - but sometimes, there are some people you just cant please…
