Always wear protection

Tough luck Ging. Get it checked, looks nasty. Work is only about 15 mins away from my place (the way I ride) but I put on textile over trousers. Light and folds away under the seat. You’ve found out the hard way what happens when you wear jeans, they split so offer no protection.

I know how you feel ginge…but thanks too I am now convinced that even for a short trip i will wear the full works…always been a bit lazy with the leggings…and no doubt we have all done it in the past. sure it will heal fine…has anyone got any of those jeans that are bike safe…ish…darggin jeans I think they are called…

Ouch, Ginge. Get well soon mate!

Bought myself a set of hood jeans (same idea as draggin but are completly lined with protection rather than patchs on bum, knees, hips) last year but havent really used them yet.

Will wear them when summer finally arrives

thanks for all the reply Grimbusa the reason why i didnt wear my leathers is us drivers dont have lockers at work and im not going to carry around the leathers in the truck just to get damaged, its only about 15 mins away me me my work

Blimey ginge sounds like your company is crap mate no lockers, thats about the only thing our company does do right its a pain but would still carry stuff in truck if needed to rather than ride without. gws

Yeeeeouch… bet that smarts; Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Most accidents happen withing 3 miles of home, and the johnny may help with those too…

Sorry to hear this ginge, get well soon mate

Ginge go to the chemist and get some gauze…cant think of the name but it’s shiny both sides, put that on then stick it with medi tape…or put the support bandage over it but don’t just stick the tubeigrip on top of it like you are at the mo.

get wel soon mate:)

i havent been

was using a cold flannel all last night till i got into work and used a bandage out of the first aid kit at work it had a patch on that, when i took it off when i got back it stuck to the skin it did hurt abit when talking it off

Back when I used to play football (before I turned into an old git and my legs went knackered) I once got some horrible graze/burns playing on Astroturf. The doc recommended some antiseptic powder which you spray on and which combines with the plasma (the clear stuff leaking out) to dry the wound and help form a scab so it can heal. Worked a treat.I think the non-stick gauze Ang is referring to is called Melolin or something similar.Whatever you use, it needs to dry out to heal so a wet flannel probably isn’t helping much. Good luck and sympathy!Mick

Lots of very hot (as hot as you can bear) salty water (salt crystals - pile them in until no more will dissolve).

Apply copiously with cotton-wool, dab dry then cover with the Melolin as recommended higher up.

You’ll feel it doing good!:stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry to hear about your accident. It is a warning to us all about what can happen even at slow speeds. Glad you were not going any faster.

Ginger, do as is suggested, that’s bad enough to need covering, I’ve had wounds like that and they don’t heal properly if you ignore them, have one on my arm that looks like burnt skin but it’s just because I didn’t take care of it properly.

Can’t you see if you can use a locker for your kit ?

wot u like ginge huh…it could have been worse.glad u r on the mend and not damaged u bike to much

Sorry to hear of your off mate, only just read this thread! hope you get better soon. I’m sure you could wear draggins to work though
