Alternator not working

Hey Guys

ive been having problems recently with the bike not holding a charge, id swapped out the battery so i was reasonably sure it was either the Alternator or the reg/rec,
since i was running off a optimate i was fine for short hops, but then last week when riding home i lost all electrics, bike was still running and i got home and the battery was just dead.
so got out haynes and did the charging system leakage and fault checks and found out the alternator was not giving any output, according to haynes it should be giving no less than 65v

so the question is, what can i do, and how much is it likely to cost? will i need to replace the alternator? anyone had anything similar happen?

appreciate any advice

Andy

Can’t recommend these guys highly enough

http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/

Have had 4 alternators rewound on various bikes now.

theres a well know aution site that may have something for the job!

try e reg/rec first, get 1 off ebay cheapish.

err if the gennys not giving 65v + on ALL three phazes then theres not much use changing the reg/rec

are all three phazes dead mate?

yeh all 3 are dead so far as i can tell
i had a similar problem and had it re-wound bout 5 years back so gonna give that another try since i cant find any on the bay, tho i might call around some breakers tomorrow and see if i have any joy there

jump onto gixerjunkies.com and ask if anyone has one on there fella
