Alarm/ Immobiliser Help

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this one:

I’ve got a seven-year old Meta alarm/immobiliser (M355) on my R1 which has worked fine up until yesterday. At 2pm the alarm activiated for no apparent reason, and it kept ringing and ringing (2-3 mins) despite being kept in a garage with nobody around (usually stops ringing after 30 secs). I used the remote to deactivate it and after deactivating (which it did)… NOTHING. Wouldn’t respond to the remote, i.e. to reactivate, nothing.

I replaced the fuse… still nothing. Tried it again this morning (hoping)… nothing. I drove to work (15-20 mins) and as soon as I get off the bike it beeps and indicators flash. Suddenly the remote works again (activating & deactivating). Then the sound stops working (lights flash), then it dies again. All in the space of 30 secs.

Has anyone got ideas as to what it might be?! Its an old model so replacement parts are not an option.

Help appreciated!

the same happened to me not long ago with a Datatool 4. The battery was fairly lowish and I think that might have caused it. After charging it and tightening the connections it was fine again.

Andrea was this the motorbike battery or the battery in the key fob? :ermm:

Yes - please let us know.

Mine is nothing to do with the keyfob, new battery was installed only 2 months ago.

I’ve noticed the red LED is still flashing at the back of my bike despite not being immobilised/alarmed. Am guessing its a power issue of some sort. Any advice would be much appreciated!!

I my experiance the fob is diying try leaving the fob out of range of the alarm and see if it still goes off if it does the alarm unit is probaly nackered or has a loos connection
