Advice on a pottential bike swap...

As some of you know im selling my bandit…

I have mentioned in the lsting I want to downgrade to a 400 yet someone hascontacted me asking if I want a GSXR600 1997

14K on the clock…

It looks lovely…

It has a few mods too…

But surely its worth more than my bandit, it seems too good to be true…

Maybe im just looking into it too much,

either way Its no good for me but if someone is intersetd we might be able to do a 3way swap or something LOL

get it hpi checked and if it checks out get it swapped quick!!

Thats what I was thinking but wasnt sure to the state of the engines/common faults etc…

And yes… Thank heaven!!!

HPI= 1 Minor

its an import…

Which I already knew. Everything else is clean!

And valuation come back as £200 more than mine! Think im gonna snap it up!

And if I cant afford the insurance il stick it on the forum/ebay!

Careful. Imports will be hard to sell, because they’re hard to insure. That’s probably why he’s trying to offload it…

I would very much hope that you can take it for a test ride. The engine or gearbox could be shagged.

Have you tried a quote for your insurance, I’m thinking that would be the way to go but a sports bike against a bandit must surely be dearer.
All the best John

Ask him when he’s going to finish painting his shed.

It may be worth £200 more than yours but with a swap assuming it’s quick and simple he’s saving himself a huge amount of hassle. That’s often why people part exchange at dealers and make less than selling privately. Some people love selling privately and haggling on a deal etcbut having strangers turn up at your house and waste your time is not everybodys cup of tea.

Stick with your original plan mate. There must be good reasons why you arrived at the decision to get a 400.

Its a gixxer ,you under 30 = assumption your a squiddy who gonna chuck it into a car .

Well If I must say… Firstly… PRAISE AQUOTE!

I called them up yesterday and they said they wouldnt insure me as Its not in a garage, SoI told them I spoke to a nieghbour who said I can borrow his and the gave me a quote… £867 a year, exactly the same policy as my bandit, but in a garage (Even tho its only TP) and its £2 cheaper than my bandit…

The guy was a legend, he even browsed ebay with me and was telling me about other potential bikes to get etc we were just waffling on! He has also said as he is a fellow biker and just got a promotion he can wave the whole “ADMIN FEE” (£25) IM MORE THAN HAPPY WITH THAT QUOTE FOR THAT BIKE!

In regards to him painting his shed I dont care (No offence)

In regards to it being shagged, hes told me of all the problems its had since hes had it… (Mainly electrical but engine has never failed) He bought a new loom (Harness last year and its had no problems since)

He said hes coming to london (From wales at the weekend) he was going to ride it but he would rather bring the van than ride all that distance on a new bike… Plus Id get to see it cold start… he seems really genuine. HPI checks and everything seem spot on

do it!!! you know you want to. lol.:stuck_out_tongue:

I think i would prefer to see the bike knowing it was reliable enough an the owner was confident enough to ride that distance to be fair by the time you studied the paper work made him a coffee an had the banter an he checked your bike over im sure the bike would be cool enough .

I think im going to snap it up!

He asked me if I would mind going for a ride with him on eachothers bikes or whatever to test them out… Obviously I have no objection to that apart from the fact of my safety and my bike in his hands.

It all seems genuine so far

that will be better 2 up than a supermoto but if your insurance is the same as the bandit then saving money from a 400 goes out the window:P

It does indeed. But Id rather scrape the money out for a nice GSXR 600 than an ok GSF600 if its the same sort of price…

It makes sense. Plus I also found out today I actually only have 2 months left on my insurance… (this past year has flown by)

So come to renewal Il have NCB :hehe: (Hopefully)

Apart from a Video of the bikes running, what else can we both do to save waisting eachothers time?

Ooh praising the insurance company there… A dangerous game. That chap will be nowhere to be seen I bet when you need to make a claim…
