I don’t know what to do. After a test ride I have developed a strong love for the 675 (I like it much more than the 2015 R1) but have a feeling it will break my heart and be a bit unreliable (I need it for my daily commute). The only R6 I’ve ridden was fully tricked out with many more horse powers and every aftermarket performance part that was available on it so is not an accurate representation of the model. Also didn’t ride it through town so don’t know what it would be like filtering. I can’t get a test ride on a standard one for love nor money. Not in London anyway. Should I just throw caution to the wind and get the 675 or play it safe and get the R6? Don’t suggest a gixxer or minge please I have my reasons to rule them out.
I don’t understand the question. Do you have to ask?

For me Jap wins all day over Brit when it comes to the Bikes, Yes the Triumph is a good looking bike, but so is the new R6, Yes the triumph has more Torque and more power but it will be forever breaking down. I know 3 people with Daytonas (Ruth, Janey & Martin) and 2 of those (Ruth & Janey) are always saying about how unreliablle the bike is, Ruth has had Terminal problems with hers!! I wouldn’t have it as a Daily Hack as i don’t think it will last, The R6 will take all kinds of abuse and still have life left in it, Look at what Alba does to hers!!! lol
What about the Honda 600rr? If it’s reliability for doing lots of miles and having to use it as a daily hack, then I’d personally go for a Honda every time. The Triumph is a beautiful bike - to look at and to ride - but I would never use mine as a commuter, even though it’s narrowness and low rev torque makes it perfect for filtering. If I had my sensible head on, then I wouldn’t have bought another one as experience has shown that they’re prone to, erm, “issues”. But who buys a top spec supersports for sensible reasons?
Whatever you do, don’t get an R6. I might have to disown you if you do! LoL
Ps, there’s a decent 2010 675 up for sale in the bike shop just down the road from us, if you’d be interested in the older model?
Traffic light test?
My Street Triple was pretty reliable- in a year I had one battery go on me but I kept it outside and the frost got to it.
The Daytona has one of the best engine notes on the planet- it is gorgeous.
If you buy the right one, keep it serviced and covered at night and are lucky then you might not have any troubles.
Wow easy there, I treat my bike in the best possible way. Ask my mechanics.
So what was wrong with the BMW S1000 XR
@ Alba, i don’t mean how you treat it mechanically, i mean how you ride it fast all the time
The engine can take that kind of usage whereas it comes accross the Triumph isn’t as tough as the Yamaha.
Daytona 675 all day long
To be fair, yes but if you really like the 675, get the 675. And maybe a scooter for commuting and rainy days
Are you not to tall for 675 ?
R
Get a 675 while you can I wouldn’t be to surprised if triumph drop the model in the near future
As it doesn’t fit in with the way they want to devolve tHe triumph brand
Can’t compare the bikes on anything but looks and the 675 is light years away…
From those two, I’d go for the 675 but then I have a garage to keep it in
Discount the terminal failure of Ruths’ bike. Get the bike that floats your boat and makes you smile like an idiot. If it’s the triumph, think of it as the British Ducati in terms of cost and reliability. So long as you stay on top of everything service wise, you should be alight.
I couldn’t really get on with my 675 unless I was wringing its neck ,run super hot in traffic and painfully on the wrists mine was an 08 model though the newer models are a bit more comfy.
675, even though mine has had issues, I still love it, I just love everything about it …apart from the reliability lol
Keeping an eye on the oil is the main thing with the triumph. Remembering how many points you have applies to both
If you really like an R6 why go for a new one? There must be loads of good 2nd hand ones about.
