A bit of market research regarding motorcycle recovery

got to consider with the event of recovery after a crash, the van might end up with all kinds of fluids dripping from the bike ruining the floor. that's probably why AA/RAC etc don't cover it.  me_groovy
If you ask the AA/RAC why they don't cover it then they tell you it's because they'd rather your insurer pay for it than they do. There's no conspiracy, you can ring them up and ask them.

If it were to do with fluids leaking then the rule would be that they’d not recover you if your vehicle was leaking fluids.

Recovery to aywhere in the UK

Recovered by a specialist motorcycle recovery company

1, would you be interested, and 2, how much would you be prepared to pay?

It is still eary days and as I said it is just a bit of market research to get an idea of what the interest might be.

I really like the idea, but I can't help but think 'specialist recovery company' would necessarily translate to lots of waiting, whereas most of the time when I've had a bike recovered on a flatbed it's been absolutely fine. I think I'd probably rather get recovered quicker than specifically by a bike company, generally. I think the RAC cover I have now is something around £100/year, so I'd probably pay that plus a little bit to get the accident recovery?

I like the idea of a well rounded recovery/breakdown policy and it could work but the margins would be slim. I worked for SOS for 4 years as a controller and the AA/RAC/GF etc generally tried to pass m/c recovery on as flatbeds are not equipped to preserve evidence after RTA’s etc and they’re also anxious to avoid damage claims. There are so many factors involved in the equation but i personally would think it was reasonable to pay out a ton on a “Complete Solution” that included onward recovery, accommodation, replacement vehicle, etc. Unless There is a substantial fund (and good contacts within the breakdown industr) behind this proposal it would be unlikely to succeed, (nice idea though).

Had bike on flatbed and it was fine. However the AA/RAC prefer sending Transits with A frame type things

I’ve seen SOS use those dollies before, very efficient way of doing things
