yep thats all they have offered me…total rubbish…am chasing them for a reason but doubt they will change I as I have already shown them examples of other bikes for £7,500 and they have ignored it…insurance companies are a law unto themselves…
please try Equity Red Star direct… I keep telling everyone this… if they dont do you a good deal, then nobody will (and believe me, Ive been in the position youre in before - 3 successive non-fault write-off accidents in the space of 6 months, wanting to isnure a brand new 10 and having the license less than 3 years…I was quoted £2k for TPFT commuting included AND it had to be garaged…I now have a trade policy and paid NOTHING to add the ten (now a year old…)…
i thought with a bike that new they had to offer a new replacement bike
ebike did with mine and i got an upgrade to the k8 from the k7
all i took was 3 phone calls a day for 10 days and i think they got fed up in the end
keep on pestering them
will try that…start tomorrow
Why do we always have to fight with insurance companies? It seems that it is standard practise for bike insurance to dick you around. My experience of car insurance is a world apart.
When I got hit in the car I only have TPFT with legal protection, and after inspection the car got written off, and I got paid out within the week by my insurance company, never got a hit against my insurance, as the provider reclaimed the money off the third party.
When I got knock off the bike, the provider wasn’t interested and passed the buck onto the legal protection company. Took six months to get the money, and a further six months on the personal injury.
Isn’t about time that a company came forward to provide proper insurance for bikers?
Harass the brown sticky stuff out of them, and make sure that every time you call they groan, because as the other guy said they will sort it out to get rid of you. Not exactly a glowing way to endear yourself to the customer.
I actually did well out of my bike being stolen (I might not be saying that come insurance renewal time!)
A lot of the insurance companies use Glass’ Price Guide and a nice guy at a Honda Garage had looked it up for me so that I knew how much to hassle for.
The price range for my bike with an average of 27k miles was £1300 to £2100. My bike only had 6k miles on it so I got £1950 which was £450 more than I had paid 18 months before
The Honda guy said that he would speak to the insurance company and push for at least £1800 for me but I didnt need it in the end. Perhaps you could pop into a dealership and see if they will help.
Also what does your policy say about this stuff? I know some wont pay anything above the amount you insured it for.
Definitely keep hassling them!
Good luck
