33bhp bigger bikes

I had a restricted Kawaski ER6F, just filled her up, even though now not restricted, and 140 miles, 70 miles commuting 70 miles country roads, so good mileage, and a great bike for commuting

I have had both a 400cc and a 500cc bike restricted in the past, to be honest i get about 160 miles on the 400 and 180 miles on the 500 before i even think about looking for a petrol station, and that hasnt really changed since they have been derestricted. Costs about £14 to fill each one up

Congrats on passing

the SRX400 look good, what about an SV400?

bare in mind fuel consumption is based on riding style, also if you ride in town alot you will burn more fuel than you will out on the open road.

Unless you are completely stupid, a restricted 650 will be no thirstier than an unrestricted 400/500.

It also has the advantage that later on you can just remove the restrictor without having to sell/buy a “bigger” bike.

When you do the full “ownership life” costs, I’d be surprised if the 650 didn’t work out just as cheap as the 400/500.

True wanna swap keys? I got a nice shiny R6 with some personal customisation that’ll make you stand out from the rest. I’ll take your BMW off your hands and show how it’s supposed to be ridden. :w00t:

hello congrats on passing suzuki 350 goose looks good

dont know about parts though

i think a yamaha wr 400 is only 33 hp

while you are getting used to it you could save a little bit of money and get some supermoto wheels then you would have two bikes in one

only an idea ;)found one on ebay here is the item number 300439596263good luck

Just remembered :hehe:

If you do buy a bike that is already restricted via the ?CDI box?, make sure you remember to ask for the original so you can switch them over, otherwise this could mean you incur a slight cost that could have been otherwise avoided.

thanks sametyler, but i cant find them cheap enough, the bike really needs to be under £1000.

also, what do you lot think of this?

i’ve phone him, he said he would try to put it through an MOT, and i should call back next week to find out the result.

edit: you have to log in to see more then one picture, if you want them ask and ill send you them.

hello Boris
if it was me i would go for something that is officialy imported.
because the parts are a problem to get hold of
i had a cbr 250rr. when i bought it it didnt start i tried different things but nothing. took it to the shop another £200 sorted and on the road 1 month later this happened again and again and again
another friend had a cb1 and the main fuse kept blowing. 16 times in one trip he had that two months and got rid of it
but a lot of people do buy them and dont have probs so its up to you really
it all depends on budget and what you want
have you thought about a derestricted 125.
i think the cagiva mito and aprilia rs125 are 33 hp once derestricted
also one of the bike mags do a section where you would be able to compare specs on different bikes
sorry to ramble on

£1000
not an import
not a cruiser.

pick 2. I doubt you’ll get something that fits all 3. Why doesn’t your dad want you to get something that’s restricted?

hello Boris
just found this
have a butchers on google images and marry them up
i think alot of these ar imports though
good luck
