1st line motorcycles

Anyone used 1st line in arnos grove for servicing? If so what they like.
I need a valve clearance check and a service on an fv6 I was thinking about using them but not had any dealings with them before and my last garage pissed me off so not using them again.

Or if you guys can recommend someone in Enfield / north London

Thanks

I bought my first bike from them, generally seemed nice guys and reasonably helpful, although they don’t do loaner’s while they have your bike so I think I only ever had one service done by them.

There is always Bikestrobe in New Barnet. Haven’t had anything major done but they’ve done a good job of servicing my scooter in the past.

Never servised at 1st line, but as they are Honda dealer, I would first compare prices with independent specialists like; http://www.armot.co.uk/bikes.html or ADZ http://londonbikers.com/forums/931455/praise–ad-moto-care

I can recommend both.

Or there is Protyre in Enfield on the A10. The guy is very good. But prefers to work on clean bikes  1stline motorcycles used to give loaners to people and used to be excellent but not sure what they are like since the nicest guy left there a few months ago… :ermm:

Thanks for the replies. Will get a quote and go from there.
I’ve heard stories where people have taken bikes in to get valves checked(not at 1st line - somewhere on the south coast) been charged but the work was never done. Just wanted to see if anyone had anything bad to say about them but they appear to have a good rep, few mates say positive things as well.

Will post back when work is done others who may be want work done. Need to save up first

Then your best bet is Protyre, would trust Dan with any of my bikes anytime, and as far as I’m aware they don’t charge you for labour…

I’ve used 1st line before but only for spares or a tyre, not servicing.

why not do it yourself at the OMC?

my mate always used 1st line for servicing his bikes as he said they weren’t charging a fortune and he was happy with their work. and he always got a loan bike too

ive used 1st line as a shop for a while, great guy there, though the only servicing I’ve had there is a wheel bearing replacement (i do most servicing myself)

Ex used to take his fireblade there for everything and was always really pleased with seviceing etc

Sorry forgot i posted this

here is an update

took the fz6 in, it needed the valves done, they were all out…took them a week to get the parts in but they gave me a loan bike for the week.

Cost for the valves and a service was £415 which was about £60 more than I though it would be, but I wont have to have them checked for another 27000 miles, which by then I will hopefully have another bike (like the vfr’s or the new BMW 800’s).

Overall very good service from the chaps there, very friendly, kept me updated, and they didn’t have to supply the loan bike. Would highly recommend them. If you need non Honda parts though you might have to wait whilst they order them as they are a Honda specialist (for anyone that does not know who they are). They did have Yamaha brakes in stock they and did them the same day a week earlier, so I guess its just non standard items.

Bike is riding and sounding much better now. I know people leave their valve clearance checks for a few thousand miles more than the recommended , mine was 500 under and they all needed done. So if you can afford it , get it done.

Ride safe guys and gals, there’s a lot of shite drivers out there
