13/08/18 Moist Monday roll call

Morning all. Generally damp weekend wasn’t it? Took the top of my tracer’s engine and found the cam chain tensioner blade has snapped. Likely result is it’s messed up the timing which has caused the loss of compression but I can’t see any damage to the valve stems and the compression loss is consistent across all three cylinders.

How much for that part to be replaced?

Oh morning everyone :+1:

£75, assuming nothing else has broken in there. £900 for a second hand engine.

Morning all.

Bloody hell Mian. Good luck with the repair.

To my eye the valve stem on the right seems bent but it could be light/shadow

check for leakage
make sure the valves are closed & pour some petrol down the intakes
if you have bent or leaking valve the petrol will leak into the bores

morning!!
Are all MT9s like this @me_groovy or just yours

Just mine, all the others have failed within warranty.

Afternoon folks. Back in the office today. Quick ride in though. I love the school holidays.

unlucky

That’s worrying if lots are failing in warranty. Perhaps Yamaha have a manufacturing issue with the 900 triple. Should have evolved the 900 twin that they had which was reliable.

33C in Hungary and time for a beer.

Good evening all. Taken the week off to finish off and ride my bike. Might even make it to BM…

Only the fairing to put on and then off to the MOT centre. :see_no_evil:

yup, that’s why they changed the design of the oil cooler for the 2017 model. and the rear shock, and the side panels. All parts that broke a lot under warranty for many people.
