Choosing between these two bikes of the year to jump on in the upcoming year so need your opinions boys and girls and don’t forget to state your argument.
ZX6 for me Personally I was always gonna get the new 10 which I got now but I was actually seriously considering the new ZX6 at one point as it looks so nice as well IMO, bit like a mini 10 and just add a few minor upgrades the bike will want for nothing.
A friend has recently gone and bought the 09 ZX6 and is really impressed with its sweet handling and with the BPF set up on the front end.
The deals are also great on Kawasakis as well and IMO if your gonna buy new you will not do much better than that for VFM.Also Kawaskis dont seem so popular on the road (Probably due to lack of success at WSB, WSS etc.) and I think you tend to see more Hondas, Suzuki`s etc. around. So another good reason to get one is dont follow the crowd :hehe: So IMOKawasaki 09 ZX6Looks +Handling +BPF +Colours + (Got to be GREEN)Dont follow the crowd + (Your bike will end up lost in the herd in the car parks unless its a KWAKER :w00t: )GREAT VFM +Kawasaki racing performance -Honda 08 CBR600
Cant knock a great bike +Not a Kawasaki ZX Ninja -So I make that a sale then
haha nvm so yea I see you got a point or two, I love the kawasaki ninjas and when I was already decided to go for the greenie this thing what struck me was that the cbr is so much lighter, faster in a 1/4 mile sprint and would own the ninja :crying:
So in order not to follow the crowd I figured I’d get a zx6r and just go +x teeth on the back sprocket cause the zixxer’s got more personality and attractiveness well agreed
but that doesn’t meen the rest of you gotta stop posting!
No I dont work with Kawasaki just will admit to being a fan of the brand :DAlso think your splitting hairs there fella unless you ride like rossi (I cant :w00t: but wish I could:hehe: ) or are a very fast rider, any way theres no way youll be maxin it out on UK roads is there…
Kawasaki ZX6R 2009
Top speed 161.62mph1/4-mile acceleration 10.97 secsPower115bhpTorque46.67ftlbWeight191kgHonda CBR600RR 2008
Top speed 165mph1/4-mile acceleration 11.1 secsPower118bhpTorque48.7ftlbWeightkgHonda CBR600RR 2009Top speed 165mph1/4-mile acceleration 10.92 secsPower107bhpTorque44.6ftlbWeight194kg I cant believe my new 10 feels so much lighter as its got much better weight centralisation (Or so Im told) than the old 6 it replaced. It actually is not lighter though but I feel much more confident on it than I ever did the 6. If in doubt just get the 10R instead
Man you got these figures all wrong or at least some of them… 09’cbr weighs less than the 09’zx6r and the ninjas top speed is bout 164mph plus the 08’cbr with all that power should cover 1/4 like half a second faster…
2008 cbr 600rr
Horsepower: 106.3 hp @ 13,100 rpm
Torque: 44.9 lb-ft @ 11,300 rpm
Weight: 397.5 lbs w/fuel, 368.7 lbs w/o fuel
Power to Weight Ratio: 0.27
and if youre sayn that theres no way i’ll be maxin it out so why not adjust the sprockets so i get the most of the zx6r’s powerband? thats no rossi **** is it…
omg and its just so confusing gettin different specs in different websites…
I know what bike I would rather have.Build Quality HONDA all day everyday.
Kawasaki build quality is cheap compared to Honda… The CBR is a quality machine that looks the nuts. The fit and finish is top draw. thats why they hold there money you can pick new Kawaks up for silly money they drop in value really quickly. The Honda comes in some nice colours aswell…The Honda is a sharp looking ride…the new CBR looks hardcore…
kawasaki is at my heart, honda is at my brain. if only the zx6r weighed less and was faster in sprint…but i guess a bike can’t have it all…still gonna go 4 the zx6r wanna stand out love the green paintjob don’t like the cbr looks and for sprint racing gonna adjust the sprockets and tune it up
Dunno where you’re getting your figures from, but in this test the '09 6R is only 4 Kg heavier (actual measured figures, not the manufacturers fantasy ones!), other than that it spanks the '09 CBR all over the shop, 8 bhp advantage on their dyno, quicker accelerating, faster lap times…
Pretty much reflected in this month’s Bike Sportsbike 09 shootout article as well, the verdict of which is :
“The CBR is softer & slower, the ZX-6R is more taut & faster. The winner.”
But at the end of the day they’re both great bikes & the reality is that there’s sod all difference between them & unless you’re actually a 13 year old playing top-trumps, such stats are pointless & only a moron or a complete geek would buy a bike based on them. Go get a test ride on each, see which one suits you the best & buy it.
I don’t agree, when I was choosing my 600 there was a lot to choose between them. If Rossi has jumped on them all and set a timed lap of Brands Hatch then for sure, they are probably all within a second or half a second of each other.
But sit on them and do 300 miles, mixture of fast blast, touring and riding home in the cold and rain and there are some massive differences which you’d never notice sitting on them in a shop or reading the usual drivel written by the magazines.
The Honda is very small, too small for me and too restrained. The Suzuki 600 was a bit bland, the Yamaha I didn’t ride but felt quite small, the ZX6 fitted me well. (this was 2007) Needed to be revved but the ZX6 was the only one which felt exciting and big enough for me. Very different to the Honda and the Suzuki.
Other than the ABS option on the '09 the only significant difference according to Honda is a miniscule improvement in torque between 8-12k, so hardly worth bothering about. Unless of course you’re 13 & playing top trumps in the playground…
I got a zx6r 08 and i love it to bits! Based on value for money its the best bike you can get! The only thing i can complain about is the seat, its a bit hard lol but thats about it! otherwise a amazing bike for the money!
