05 fazer rebuild

Well the time has come for me to sort out my dads bike after it had a knock with a chelsea tractor. Luckily it was just marks to finish and a broken mirror.

The plan is to have a similar blue as it is as he doesnt want anything too flashy yet he wants bright yellow wheels :s

So i got the bike all stripped, temp fitted the hid’s to make sure they worked and i had used a good enough ground. The final fitting will be done once the panels are back to find a good place for the ballests.

Many of rusted bolts later it was stripped and i plastic welded the fairing back together. The wheels went off to crayford for the tyres off and wheels to be powder coated.

The down side to this was that i needed to block off the centres with studs and washers but ended up slipping with the flathead driver and put it into my hand! I now have a numb finger and work will be put on hold until the wheels come back.

Ill put the other pictures up later aswell as edit this as im on my phone at the moment

That’s great mate can’t wait to see some more pic’s

what like this:P

Ncie one,keep us updated

Got the wheels back but they have powder coated EVERYTHING nothing was masked up no bolts in any threads.

The finish is pretty good expect a 50p size chunk where it looks like its only had one coat.

I then had to tape all the threads out but when it came to the sprocket carrier the m10 studs were so caked that the dye wouldnt even clear it.

I got a stiff wire brush, needle files and a heat gun. The nuts go on fine but i still need to finish off all the faces where the discs sit

They look shite, are you changing he bike paint ?

Not sure about the wheels, but other bits looking good mate.

The colour choice was not mine my dad saw a bike years ago in blue with yellow wheels so whatever he wants its his bike lol

Crazy Fella.

Thanks to the powder coaters and me loosing my rag i managed to snap two disc bolts so ive drilled through the centres but have to go find a tool to get them out now but that can wait till tuesday now.

How much was the powder coating or did you use a machine yourself?

The powder coating was done at metcraft in crayford for £50 the pair.

I covered up the bearings with washers and bolted it all together. They were fine no issues just clean and regrease them.

I only used them as there was a praise thread. Next time ill pay abit more and go o adept in thronton heath

wheels look wicked now they all put back thegether

So following on from our convo the other night , did they do it like you wanted or just to get the job done ?

They did it as i requested at my own risk but they were just being over cautious when i had already done it and knew the out come.

They covered everything and its just poor service covering studs and threaded holes is basic stuff but you get what you pay for i guess

little update managed to get the snapped disc bolts out of the front wheel and fitted so no more stands needed.

Cut back the frame trims to fit on top of the engine bars gotta love the dremel.

Brakes cleaned, fitted and bleed. Still lots of cleaning and polishing to do just afew more days till the panels are finished.

looking wicked son.
