I was just reminiscing and surprised myself at the amount of bikes I’ve owned and sold on in 12 years of riding
Actually started out on a rattly old used Peugeot SpeedFight 2 with only one bolt holding on the front wheel and an engine that would go pop a few weeks after purchase.
Moved onto a fantastic Aprilia RS125 which I changed the carb to 34mm from I think 28mm and fitted the RAVE valve (basically Powervalve) to get over 90 MPH. Got stolen
Got another cheaper Suzuki GN125 to run about on before doing full test.
After passing, moved to two Yamaha R6s (silver one got dropped in a van and damaged so sold for the blue one).
Next 2004 Yamaha R1 which I loved and learnt a lot with (some being that sport bikes are expensive to crash repair) and owned second longest.
During that time owned and sold a 1981 Honda CB 750 with massive handlebars :). Bike made me smile with it’s bouncy suspension and sofa-esque seat but it was still good for 120 MPH.
Sold both and bought a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K5 which is now the longest owned bike.
For years, couldn’t understand the appeal of the GSXR then rode one and was sold. Now can even tolerate the use of the term Gixxer :) Bike currently in race bike trim but will return to the road some day.
During ownership of the GSXR also owned and sold a quirky and fun BMW F650CS with a tiny 13 litre tank that would incredibly take you around 180 miles.
Also bought and sold a brilliant Honda CB500 (another fantastic machine).
Bought and currently still own the 98 Kawasaki ZX6R. Needs some work and debating on whether to turn it into a track bike after I bring the GSXR back to the road.
Made an impromptu purchase of this Kawasaki Z1000SX for the Euro trip I went on with a mate this year. It’s probably the best pure road bike I’ve owned. Really like it.
The dream bike to own one day would be either a Yamaha R1M, Ducati 1299 Panigale or Aprilia RSV4 RF then I think my bike life would be complete.
So show us yours.
