This morning my boss was cycling to work.
There were shed loads of people dismounting a bendy bus up by Holborn in the outside lane of traffic.
As he got up to the bus he could see they’d pressed the emergency button rather than wait in traffic, but it was ok cos someone in a yellow coat was closing the door…he pressumed it was a conductor.
As he cycled up the side of the bus it started moving, but there was no-one in the driver seat!!
The bloke he saw was the DRIVER!!!:w00t: And the bus was going on it’s own!!
It came to a halt as it ploughed into a double decker bus!!! Pressumeably the driver left it in gear, and away it went!! The driver of the other bus was just like, ‘wtf??’!
o dear driver’s gonna be in alot of trouble!! maybe he didnt have handbrake on, are the buses auto or geared?? if geared then wouldn’t of been able to leave it in gear without stallin??
Yeah, I realised after I typed it, lol…maybe the handbrake then…I dunno. Coaches are geared (16 of 'em usually!) dunno about busses though, especially bendy ones.
if the rear doors are open theres a safty feature that locks the brakes on even if the handbrake isn`t applied
i dont drive bendy buses they pay you enough and also wouldnt get out of my cab just to close the rear doors there are proceedures to go through if your doors jam (waste time do less work)
a friend of mine did just that got out of his cab foregot to put the handbrake on. closed the rear doors his cab door slammed shut and he wiped out 4 cars and a moped he`s not working in my garage no more
I always had the nightmare in the back of my mind I’d drive a coach into the pits when reversing onto them…
However, another bloke really did reverse the coach into the pit, LOL!! I don’t think he got the sack, but it was quite painful seeing the coach at a 45 degree slant poking out the pit…:hehe:
routemasters are semi auto no clutch just a gear selector they took them out of service just b4 i got on the buses butone of the bus instructors had one as a tour bus and i had a go round the yard in it. you need arms of steel to drive them things
