and have you seen the latest? They went and turned their liveried mobile speed camera van into a normal clapped out old blue one so we wouldnt notice it.The beauty of it is that they forgot to tell the DVLA of the changes! I wonder what would happen to us if we did that.
Im sorry but this has gone way beyond trying to hide behind the “Safety” heading. This is blatantly a WAR against motorists and in particular motorcyclists - theres just no money is burglars, muggers, rapists and murderes you see!And whilst im on the rant…why is it that they covertly try and catch us poor folk but turn up to other incidents wearing hi-vis and the two-tones? could it be to give the baddy a head start at getting away?
Yes get your point and agree, but at least this weekend they have told us they are out to get us, so if we get caught we only have ourselves to blame. Quite simply, if anyone plans on having fun on the bike this bank holiday, DON’T DO IT IN SURREY
Its only a crime if ya get caught !!!
dont get caught !!
Very true:cool:
On the contrary, I might go down to surrey this weekend with a hivis on and ride around perfectly, just really, really, really slow.If it’s war they want…
Who would want to deliberately endanger other road users?
I do get fed up of the press announcements that suggest we’re all evil biking hooligans and they’re out to get us.
I know they have a lots of deaths every year in the Dorking area, especially the roads around Box Hill, so I commend sensible driving behaviour… but it is possible to go over 30mph without endangering other road users… (so smiled tells me).
:Whistling:
Why does it seem to be aimed at bikers, over the bank holiday? Do they think that we suddenly change overnight? Surely the money would be better spent making sure that the younger DRIVERS are instructed in better driving skills? And where’s the page on the crackdown on the incredibly dangerous driving skills shown by some of the caravan community? I’m not saying that we’re angels, but we’re no worse than the other road using communities!
I agree with what most of what has been said. I’ll add something else to the mix. Due to my ribs I have been taking it quite easy on the bike (don’t want to give them another hamming at the moment plus riding at the moment is a little painful), and I have come to one conclusion:
That due to the use of speed cameras speeding is now endemic to the british roads. I was the only person doing 30 down a dual carriageway (which is restricted to 30), it then goes to 40 and finally 50. The only time it slows down is at the speed cameras. When the numpties drop to 40 for the 50 and 30 for the 40. Due to the use of speed cameras to raise revenue there is no one policing the roads. If the powers that be really gave a hoot about speeding then they would do something about it. They don’t, all they care about is money.
An additional thought. Do you have to go fast to have fun on a bike? I was around Boxhill a couple of weeks ago, all at national speed limits and had a cracking good time out with friends. We did not exceed the speed limits and still managed to have a fantastic day. I don’t get the obsession with going fast on a bike. Yes, it can go fast if you want it too, but grow up and use the speed sensibly. Yes, I do use hte power/speed of my bike. Rant over.
I would hate to ever hurt anybody else and I have no intetion to spank my bike into a pedesrtrian filled footpath, but it’s my life and I will do with it what I F’ing well like. I don’t take the preverbial in built up areas and stick almost religiously to the limit in towns and villages (if not london…:Whistling:), so when I get to a clear section of national speed limit A road then I wind it up and away.
You may say that this is selfish, I may crash and then it’s a cost to the emergency sevices to clear it up. This is true, there are worse things to do and like I said, it’s my life.
I can’t wait till August and my ride to Brno, proper well maintained roads (how many bikers have died because of bad road surfaces), and a decent attitude toward bike riders. How can a mere 24 miles of water create such a change in attitude from, awareness and respect (on the continent) to, jealousy and contempt (England).
Soon as I clear my debts I’m leaving the repressive regime we have aloud this country to become.
Rant over…
Wonder what type of response this email to them will get:
*Hello,
Can you please let me know how many vehicle drivers have been prosecuted in your region, for mobile phone use while driving, since January 2008.
Can you please also let me know what measures you are actively taking to monitor/pursue/uphold this law?
Thank you,
Adam *
