Yeah I know, yet another Bandit - but I got all this done in 1 day. Stripped, hacked new front end on and cut the can down. Got to weld on the Lugs next Sat and the subbie will be on.
Wish someone would approach me with a bag full of cash and want something ‘different’ - still it keeps me in the garage I suppose.
maybe you’ll have to convince them they want otherwise. “nah i did that last time, lets go this direction” people will trust ya as you build em up just right anyhow!
Nah, this is gonna be black and white, I wanted to do the frame white, with matt black tank etc… but the ‘client’ wants black frame with white tank…, but I might have convinced him to powder coat the engine covers white, just to break it up a little.
Nah, the Busa is staying as it is - gonna paint it and put on some decals when I’ve got some spare cash.
El-Diablo…I was looking at a previous thread on here… a Speed Triple with R6 forks? Can you tell me where the yokes came from for that mod?
I’ve been getting all the bits together to put a K5/K6 GSXR 1000 front end on my Speed Triple. I have everything apart from a top yoke, which has turned out to be a real drag to source. Lots of info about this conversion on T595.net. There was a guy knocking out kits to convert but he’s stopped. You use the GSXR bottom yoke and stem, custom bearings, spacers for the brake calipers and discs and a custom lock stop that bolts directly to the GSXR bottom yoke.
All I need is a top yoke with GSXR K5/K6 dimensions, ignition barrel mounted as per the Speed Triple so the steering lock can still be used, holes to mount the standard instruments to the top yoke and holes for the standard bar risers.
I have looked into the ABM superbike conversion kits. You can get a yoke with risers for the GSXR but the position of the ignition mounting is out. The Triumph ignition barrel sits too high in the yoke meaning no steering lock, plus the problem of mounting the instruments.
I’m guessing this is the puppy your talking about. I think the forks were off a blade? But the yokes as you can see were made to accommodate the triple stem. I think your best option is to get a top yoke made up to your spec, Mike at http://www.fullmetalornament.com made these up.
Otherwise its a case of butchering a Gixer top yoke to get it to where you want it (I think tapping in a thread might be problematic as the yoke is lightened), the other problem you may have with that is mounting the instruments - unless you sell them and buy yourself some smaller digital ones? These can be mounted a little easier?
I’ve just got hold of a K5 GSXR top yoke…it nearly floated away it’s so light!..so no drilling into that. Somebody on another forum mentioned Full Metal Ornament…I’ll drop them a line…Thanks for that.
So just need to send off the GSXR yoke and my Speed triple yoke…and hey presto get one back that does the job.
Is there a painter you can recommend that’s local? I’m just after a simple (but good!!) metallic black paint job.
Nearly finished this bad boy, and just laid my hands on yet another - other Bandit 12. A blow up from Paul Gower wheelie school. Got some bigger plans for that bad boy. But until then…
Gonna be black and white, no colour really. But its gonna be matt black. Might do a checker style leather seat. Or maybe black and white diamonds?? Not really to sure yet.
Do you know of any suzuki inlet manifold (INJECTED ) Type That will fit onto a 1200 bandit, as i may be fitting a aftermarket ECU so would prefer to control Fuel & Ignition instead of just ignition,
