I need to order and get fitted some tyres asap. Dartford (SE) area. I run normally BT016’s or newest equivillant.
I now commute on the R6, so need centres to be solid and last a very long time, But i do enjoy and frequently push the bike on corners on a ‘sunday blast’ type ride out every other day.
So…Grip for knee down activites, long lasting middle for commute.
I got an 05 R6. My requirements are the same as yours. Essential Rubber suggested and fitted Dunlop Qualifiers (not the RR) back in December and so far so good throughout winter! Done 2000+ miles on em and holding up well. I’ve yet to take em on a track however … but that was the plan when I told em what I wanted…
I had D209 Qualifiers on mine, they were ok but the front wears funny for some reason. Due to the summer has arrived and track days are calling i have switched to Power 2cts as they good on/off the road (need the bike to commute too)
Pilot Road 2s all the way mate… centres last forever, corners very grippy… feedback brilliant and amazing in the wet… Best allround-sporty road tyre i have ever had…
Michellin have just released a newer improved version of the 2ct, called pure power I believe. I was a 2ct user on my R6 and R1 for road and track and loved them. Am going to try the pure powers next
I have run two different tires at a time. But they reccommend against it. I only did it through winter as a stop gap and commute tyre. Its best to change both at once when going to another brand and tyre type.
I went for the pilotroad2 sct’s. Look great and managed a little roundabout scratching on way to work…
I have an 03 R6 and changed to Pirreli Diablos and never looked back - used for commuting, track, touring and weekend jaunts. Find them very sticky and good in wet too.
my 2CT’s have been on for just about 3.5k now and there’s still loads of more life in them (front and rear). They’ve been through 6 trackdays as well in that time.
good suspension set up will aid the wear rate of your tyres.
