wots the f***g point?

Blimey Blade, easy Tiger! Have we touched a nerve or summat?

(I’ve spaced it out a bit as it gave me a headache reading it).

GSXR Rocker is right tho, only putting protective gear on half yer bod does seem a bit daft, but each to their own eh?

People have freedom of choice in wearing whatever they chose when riding. Legal minimum is the lid. MY minimum is lid, jacket, jeans, boots and good biking jacket. I normally wear padded trousers too, even in the heat and I’m on a hot oil cooled bike as well. 1200cc generates a lot of heat in London traffic conditions and I still wear all the kit. Thankfully I’ve got a good summer jacket that makes all the difference. Always have some water before you ride and if you are on a long ride during summer, take a bottle in the tank bag or pannier (if you have them!!!).

Good advice re the water. The first thing that suffers when dehydrated is your concentration.

See now i’m in a quandry about what kit to wear to the south of France at the end of the week… my leathers are far from waterproof and Rukka goretex even with linings out might be a tad warm, plus the armour moves when you havent got 50 layers on underneath…

May I be the first to suggest something red and loose…

Like Geri Haliwell???

Why red?

Because it’s your colour…

Hmmm ok… I do in fact have red gloves… really can’t be doing with buying new kit in the next 3 days … I have a choice of…

2 piece wolf leathers - comfy but not weather proof…

2 piece Rukka goretex - comfy but way too hot in the sun and too loose without a zillion layers on for armour to be effective

Spidi jacket & scott trousers - trousers although MTM are total cr@p…

Draggin jeans and any of the above jackets… prob with the jeans i have is that the kevlar lining reacts with my skin and gives me nasty rash if i wear all day - not the way to impress ladies - a 31 year old with nappy rash

Wear tights underneath the Draggin’ Jeans… Or you could wear those new swimming shorts that are all the rage (the ones in Hawaiian prints etc), that come almost to the knee.

Are you sure you haven’t got anything else in red? Nothing at all? Something, shall we say, absorbing?

What is your obsession with me wearing red??

Not keen on draggin jeans - these are the sort of roads we will be doing…

Doh… I’m so slow it’s coz of my dressing gown…

I guess we have to ask the question, why put crash bobbins on your bike and then not wear leathers?

Everyone can to and fro on the whys and the where-fors about wearing protective bike clothing or not, but ultimately why should we care?

When I first started commuting in London and used to see all the scooter-commuters wearing just their work clothes and a lid I used to be horrifyed or I’d see people riding bikes with t-shirts and shorts etc (I saw some geezer a few weeks back wearing a vest, shorts and flip-flops!!!), but I soon came to the conclusion that it isn’t worth tut-ing and wagging your finger at these people. It is ENTIRELY their decision, all you need to worry about is what you decide to wear…it’s all a bit nanny state if you start demanding that everyone wears protective clothing. It is the right and freedom of the individual and we should respect that.

I am much more concerned when I see dangerous riding, like the fella I saw yesterday on an L-plated 125 overtaking cars through Regents Park right past a junction on the right…when I see things like that I am far more tempted to say something than when it comes to what protection they are wearing. But as is so often the case in London, if you say something you are often met with aggression, so most times I just leave it…except for that one time when a scooter rider was riding like a prat almost had a prang with a car and then started to shout at the car driver, I put him right about that and the car driver thanked me…

i think you might be over-prescribing mate!

Charly you crack me up

That was back in 1993 Jay , when the only thing that sucks was you on your dummmy! (pmsl) Those shoes are Hugo Boss nautic Jay, back there I used to go hunt in the sea by boat and Jet-ski every weekend and on the boat before you have to wear nautic shoes! The hairs was dues to speed without helmet… Great times trust me!

Gloves? I didn’t know they existed! lol

The photo I was on leathers is in the circuit of Jacarepaqua in Rio de Janeiro.

i totaly agree with charly and wat he says.sorry everyone else.ride safeley and dont let the sun go to your head.xx

What always makes me laff is when you see some punk on a flash sports bike donning with Leather, The best helmet money can buy and all the proper clobber (indicating he has learned the hard way) but his lass on the back is in a crap AGV with t-shirt, high heels and a skirt?

It makes me laff that the lass is as stupid as she looks and the bloke is prepared to take his girls life into his own hands (i.e if he bins it he has to tell her mum and dad why she looks like corn beef but he’s ok). Scares the crap out of me!!!

me personaly would make sure that i was protected its totaly upto the individual concerned.look after yourself and make sure you look after others.keep safe.xx

where they trying to get a sun tan (fools)
