Worst morning on bike yet

I had a similar morning this morning- doing my usual commute out of the city, down the M4:

  1. Chiswick roundabout, idiot in a pale blue merc pulls out and cuts me up- I positioned wide so ok- but annoyed.

  2. On the M4 west bound about 7 car lengths benind the car in front doing around 70ish, and out from under the car in front appears a huge piece on metal in the middle of the lane. Moved left, just touched it with my front wheel, but was ok. The only reason i was in the middle of the lane were the ridiculous winds this morning! In future high winds probably means bits of metal/road signs etc on the motorway!!!

Ian

must be the time off year i got cut on by a nob at about 11.15 this morning on the a4/m4 bit going into town way so droped a gear and pegged it:D not comming off again this month! thinking about it it was just going over the hammersmith fly over… i like that bit the bike so light get it in the power band and the front end just lifts:cool:

no finger stoping them and giving hasssel this time. bloody hooligan!

na mate was thinking about it;) did the pop up over hammersmith fly over instead:cool:

I shouted under my helmet ct ct c**t, clenched my fist in a primeval way, as if I was going to punch a beast of some sort- realised it was pointless and just raised the middle finger.

Then lent forward, and nailed the throttle- realised I was in 3rd and had dropped the revs, nothin happened then there was a few lumps, then the tractor started to spin up and I got away! still cursing under my breath.

It was dry and with high winds this morning. And high winds make people crazy.

Congrats on not stacking it!

Some good advice here - iterating what others have said and my own take on filtering on my commute:

Like Powerpuffgirl said - thumb hovering over the horn is a must, but even that won’t always help (does release a bit of aggression though :D)
Know your roads - if there’s a busy side road that spills out onto your route, always be extra careful around it
If you’re not 100% sure, only take a car or two at a time - it’s a booger when you get up behind a flatbed, but patience is a virtue and you will get your chance
Remember you hazard perception and keep thinking “What if…”
What if some nobber is calling his mistress whilst his missus is on hold? What if someone uses their car door to waft a fart out of the car? What if Godzilla sticks his head up through that manhole cover? What if those feet have your girlfriend attached to them?It doesn’t have to be boring, but it does have to be done

More than anything, filtering requires an immense amount of concentration - no relaxing, no trying to pick that bit of toast out of your teeth, no wondering what colour thong the boss is wearing today - just the road ahead and the muppets around

If none of that works, ah well… The Darwin Awards get another story and the gene pool gets slightly les diluted

still cursing for me while the front end up is usally like ohhhhhhh ****!!! iam gonna die ahhhhh loool:D and ys it’s bloody windy comming over vauxhall bridge i was getting battered!

Hey, thanks for the advise! Some good ones in there :D:hehe:

Glad you kept her upright. I always say Wednesday is the worst day. I had my accident on a Wednesday and have more near missus on that day. I call it ‘Arsehole Driver Day’.

Monday moved over into Tuesday. I had to do an E-Stop due to a nice shiny new Accord that wanted to use my piece of nice black tarmac. Managed to avoid being side swiped, stopped next to him and tapped his mirror. He apologised nicely. I smiled and carried on. He might, maybe, perhaps use his mirrors next time!

For some reason the old ‘crisp n’ dry’ advert song popped into my head…

…everyday’s a crisp and dry day, when you fry with crisp… and dry…:P:P:P

theres a similarity there… somewhere :hehe:
