Jonny Rea OK after highsiding on second lap at Losail … Unfortunately the accident also involved his Team mate Andrew Pitt . The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda pair had been holding commanding 2nd and 3rd slots at the time of the incident… Good fortune prevailed though as both riders were checked out at Medical Centre and after treatment for cuts and abrasions have been given the all clear… JR now on his way ( 14.30 GMT Sat.) to the airport at Dubai enroute to Melbourne . Keep them crossed for a better Australian debut at Phillip Island next weekend .
See there’s another good reason not too ride a Honda, the last time I saw one team mate take out another was when Pedrosa flattened Hayden…what were they riding…oh yes of course!
So how many other team mates over the years have managed this impressive feat, and what were their rides at the time? (over to you Chunks…)
Apart from the ones you mentioned the only other one that sticks in my mind was when Yanagawa rear ended Doug Chandler off his ZX-7 at Laguna Seca some years ago.
the last 3 years haslam has seemingly made it his mission to run off at park at least once in every race. just the first time i do believe he took lavilla with him. didn’t stop him winning the championship though.
I seem to remember Caprirosi taking Harada out on the last corner of a 250 race a few years ago. They were both on Prillers I think and cost Harada the title that year IIRC
thats the kitty. they had different title sponsors but were team mates really as the bikes were under the same management. The team boss for the camier bike animal team is the new team boss for HM plant BSB team this year too leaving Niel Tuxworth to move even higher up the Honda order.
I was also gutted, i put the race on late and couldn’t see JR and thought he might be injured, but when i watched the replay i thought dame he does not need that in his first race, and especailly after he did so well in winter testing.
Lets just pray he doesn’t try to hard at phillip island.

I think you will find that is was chandler that nearly killed yanagawa not the other way round, his motor seized on the way into the corkscrew, locked his rear wheel and torpedod poor old yanagawa
