I don’t like the fact that the law is looked upon as not applying to police officers (often by the officers themselves(Sorry Porkscratchin)), and I think that the important point here is that PC seemed to be out for a jolly. If he had to familiarise himself with the vehicle then they should book a track for the day, not gone hairing around the countryside for his own fun.
That said if he was on a chase or like ambulance and fire services officers responding to an emergency call then the law for speeding should not apply.
no, no, no!!!
The guy was :
NOT on an emergency call.
NOT training.
Therefore, under the circumstances, he is not exempt from the offence of speeding.
The new Vectra he was ‘honing his skills’ on and ‘familiarising’ himself with is exactly the same ones we have…
We didn’t feel the urge to hoon around the countryside at ridiculous speeds.
There CANNOT be one law for the public and one law for Police.
Pc Milton has committed the offence of Speeding, simple as that really!
Aren’t we agreeing ?
I hope he get the same treatment that those two guys got a few years ago (31 days in the Gaol)fpor speeding
Off to the clink with him I say.
Or make him walk the plank…
lol yes of course…
i mean’t no no no he cannot do that speed…
Too right take his licence away and lock him up for a month treat him the same as the public would be treated.
I think were all missing the point!
He went for a Jolly and there ain’t much wrong with that is there?
He one of us really,a big kid who likes to let rip!
The only problem I see is he did it in a cop car, he needs to learn to control his urges.
But thats a problem we all suffer from and why we speed.
Hope to meet him on the road some day.
My kinda cop!
I hope if he meets me in his “official” capacity when I am on my bike he will be as understanding! What do you recon?
That is EXACTLY the problem!
he did it in a traffic car thinking he would be exempt…if he did it in his own car would he use the same defence?? course not.
If i was stopped doing that speed on my bike i would take what was coming.
If i drove/rode like that at work without reason i would expect to be prosecuted as well.
He knew the car was video equipped.
He could have called up and just say he was going to do a high speed test run.
But he didn’t because he knew his reason for doing it would NOT have been authorised so he went ahead and did it anyway.
I think he’s been a very foolish man although i do believe his retrial is more to public outrage/pressure then anything else.
oh well…just don’t you lot get caught doing the same
right!!??
take it easy
That is indeed the word of reason! … nice one Porkscratchin’!
You are still missing my point porky!
He had the urge man!
He had the urge to go for a Jolly, Thats cool!
Now he will proberly pay the price, but thats not the point, the point is he likes to let rip, also it sounds like he’s quite good at it too!
Lets not be so ****ing idolistic, otherwise I suggest all of us just send our licenses in to the DVLA with a note “Been on too many Jollys, please cancel.”
So what if he gets banned, he still a Kid at heart and thats cool!
Vinnie,
We cant do that, my licence would spend so long at swansea it would have a welsh accent.
Hahaha nice one Dan!!
Vinnie man, your right - he is clearly a petrol-head and fancied (who wouldn’t) roasting a 3.2 motor up a deserted motorway. And I’ve heard that it’s fun (even with only 2.8 litres )…?
But blimey, what a clod to leave the camera on or not at least try to ‘make it official’. That smacks of arrogance or complacency, neither admirable traits in a traffic cop. The downside of getting a high-powered set of wheels to roam about in is that he surely must act as the law and job demands.
He didn’t. I’d love to talk to him over a pint and hear what else he gets up to, but unfortunatly he’s gotta walk the plank…
Hear what your sayin’ Vinnie!!
But when you and I let rip don’t you take a little ‘cautionary’ look around first?
coutrse you do!!!
because your careful!!
Pc Milton was careless and a silly boy.
ALSO…i don’t think you’ll find his colleagues like him too much either…i mean why was this video pulled out and into view exactly??
he’s either been complained about by his colleagues before so was being monitored or the person he was with thought he was out of order and turned him in, or he just wasn’t liked period!
still a shame he’ll lose his licence though…never like seeing that happen.
Is there any truth that he was showing off to a new, young and attractive female colleague?
at that speed, he’s lucky not be familiarising himself with an inmate or two…
lol
I must admit I had a smirk on my face about that policemen but,if I was that Jeweller in that shop in Nottingham whose wife was shot I would want that copper driving an armed response unit. When our police are trained as highly as they are I find it strange that they are still fallable and stupid.Fancy leaving a camera switched on in his patrol car.
Police do make mistakes if he had made a mistake it was an open road no entrances exits quiet conditions he would have injured himself, unlike Heather Mc Cartney built up area and whoosh she is maimed for life.
IF I was nicked for speeding and given the “anything you say” I would say that it was a new motorcycle and that I was just familiarising myself with its handling properties in case of an emergency. And then bite the bullet.
I do over 100,000 miles a year and have done for many years and rightly or wrongly I dont think speed kills,Inappropiate speed and bad driving kill. Police need to be sharp behind the wheel at high speed They should have track days for for coppers at Brands Hatch or some other venue where they can thrash them into the ground
