wiring heated grips to live feed

Hi,

I have a cbr 125, my heated grips are wired straight into the battery and sometimes I can forget and I find my self calling the break down cover to bail me out.

Is it possible for me to connect the live wire which has a 10A fuse to the bikes wiring i.e. light so when the ignition is turned on the the heated grips work? Or would I overload the system?

I don’t really want to use a relay.

Thanks

It is possible but I wouldn’t know how to do it, which is why I got this excellent bike electrician to do mine.

He is based in South Croydon.

you need fine a wire thats switch live…

I.E i only goes live when the bikes turned on, get a wiring diagram.

I use the live off the ignition switch

Thanks,

It won’t overload the system would it?

I don’t wanna be riding and see smokeee :w00t:

find a switched live near the fusebox, into a relay, then out of the relay into the heated grips. no more flat batteries or overloaded head/brake light circuits!

So I can use the relay which is already on the bike?

if you’ve already got an accessory relay wired up then yes. there’s bound to be some how to guide online, i’ll have a look and post up the best i can find!

here you go: How to wire in an electrical device using a relay. - Bike Chat Forums and So Symtec heated grips. Fitting etc. - Bike Chat Forums

What a great link. Not often you get good words and good pictures.
