Winter parking

Hey all,

Now, since my NTV survived being snowed under in -25C weather in Norway for six months I think bikes are pretty resilient machines, but I was just wondering what you pay attention to when you park your bike up during cold spells?

(One way to do it… not the recommended method, mind!)

Right at the moment we are hitting -9C here in Germany, and my bike’s just parked outside, under a roof but still exposed to the frost. The battery is almost brand new, antifreeze is in, anything else I should be looking at?

And, how much of a difference would it make to park it indoors in a dry, frost free environment? I might be able to blag some garage space but I wonder how much of a difference it’d actually make?

apart from security there isnt much difference between indoors and out. like you say the build quality these days especially with japanese bikes is really good. my ride spent its early years outside and hasnt suffered at all.

mine lives outside i have got a decent cover and it doesn’t seem to mind to much well it hasn’t told me it doesn’t like living outside
