Just trying to look for a decent pair of winter gloves , looking at MCN , they got a article on Top 5 winter gloves from 2010
Does anyone agree with this or actually have anything better then what MCN suggests?

Im wearing tease ,cost me £62 , not expensive if you talk about gore-tex .they are worm comfy and good quality.
I like my Spada Enforcers… waterproof for about 1.5 hrs but quite warm.
Though I do use them with muffs now so experience is not the same
Definitely agree with nikwax gloveproof on whatever gloves you get - watch it on the palms though, it’s a little bit slippery at first (soon wears off). Nowhere near as slippery as the jacket proofing spray but still noticeable.
I’m still happy with my Spada Enforcers after a couple of winter’s use - I’ll probably buy again when they wear out
I have the Held Freezer gloves and love 'em - comfy, waterproof and warm. In really cold weather I switch to heated gloves (Gerbing Hybrid) because I still feel the cold (very painfully) in the finger I cut off last year.
I’ve tried these:-
Hein Gericke Pathan - naff, too cold and were saturated after half an our of solid rain. Expected better for price.
Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-tex (older pair from couple of years back) - Decent, pretty warm and plenty water proof. Now discontinued though. Plenty about second hand and cheap.
Gerbing Hybrid heated gloves - Lovely and toasty. Needed waterproofing from new, but hold up fine now. Cabling is bit of faff, but worth it. Not cheap, but no regrets.
Arfa,
What did you use on your Gerbing gloves for waterproofing?
The subject of winter gloves often come up when I’m down the pub
I find the that the best way is to have a extra large pair of marigolds
In yellow over the top of my summer gloves
Not only does this waterproof but you can also be seen at night
I have held freezer too. New for this year. Nice and warm so far, although quite bulky. Their sizes run small, but the size chart works.
Marigolds? Not the look I am after personally…
I used the Nixwax glove stuff (£3.99 in J&S) on my Gerbing gloves and this week in terribly wet conditions the rain has just run off them
Might I suggest a “.” after the them.?
You were a teacher weren’t you?
Yep, Biology. There were a lot winter glove lessons:)
Might I suggest removing the “.” before the “?”?
Three or Five finger Pathan? I had a three fingered pair, very warm, downside is very little protection. The membrane isn’t goretex so I found that they tended to give up after an hour of rain.
There are alternatives now on the market with Goretex, Held and Rukka do three finger gloves.
Jet Road Goretex, very nice glove but I found them not to be very warm though. Great protection, and very water proof.
No longer commute, so don’t really have a pair of winter gloves. If I do go out I use a pair of my all season gloves with a silk glove liner.
Nixwax it is - thanks.
My Gerbings were LOVELY this morning…
Yep, used Nikwax stuff on my Gerbings too. Picked up a box with a bottle of each their potions, for gloves, jackets, boots, visor, leather cleaner etc. Was only about £15 off ebay. All been good, but yeah, can be a spot slippery at first, both on gloves and bum on seat. Not tried their visor stuff yet though.
Pathan gloves I had were the 5 finger ones, but yeah not a lot of palm protection at all really.
The Jet Road ones were definitely warmer than the Pathan ones mind. Not as warm as my Gerbings (when unplugged) and my wife Buffalo ones feel thicker and warmer too (not sure exact model). I think they changed the cuffs a bit on these over the years, as I’ve seen some with better rain protection on the cuffs than mine. Still very good mind, and I only paid £30 for a second hand pair in good nick!
Haven’t tried my new Gerbings Hybrids in anger yet as it hasn’t yet been cold enough this year to defeat my Held Freezers + wool inners.
The Held Freezers are very good down to about 2 degrees so I would recommend them for autumn/spring riding. Deep winter they will do too but heated gloves are better imo.
I’ve a pair of cheap weise ones, 4 hours in the wind and rain last week and they were saturated but my hands were still absolutely dry inside.
took a couple of days to dry out though.
I have Gerbing heated gloves…they are awesome…toasty hands all week
