Is it, as I suspect, that race organisers / sponsors / television rights owners wouldn’t want to suspend racing 4 times every race for pee breaks  (I’m joking Gabby don’t kill me) …
Or is there some other reason?
I can’t really figure out why…The girlfriend was asking me the other day and I couldn’t give her an answer.
Physically speaking, weighing less than Dani Pedrosa and probably having more strength than him could be seen as an advantage.
Looking at runners like Paula Radcliffe as evidence, to me shows that physical endurance isn’t an issue.
Is it really down to the ‘sexist world we live in’ comments that I’m sure will be voiced?
But isn’t it all about money?
If a woman was winning races…That’s good for the team and the sponsor right.
Hell, if she was white skinny and blonde, she could even get her t*ts out at the end of the season in FHM or such like and garner even more interest in the race series.
Hmmmm.
Maybe…Get the brolly dollys off the starting grid, book 'em into a Superbike training school, and get them racing.
Have I just discovered a great plan to make loads of dosh? :w00t:
Fro there were about 5 girls on the 125 grid last year in BSB.
I filmed with one of them every weekend…
1 girl, Jenny Tinmouth I think, was about to move up to 600’s she was that good, but I think she may have moved out of the UK series and be looking into 250’s instead… ask Harbron (Andy&7) - he was in the paddock this year I wasn’t.
Fair play, but I’m more talking about premiere motorcycle racing.
I know there are female club racers etc, but why haven’t any been able to step up to at least BSB, let alone WSB or MotoGP.
I think I’m having a maverick moment…
Forget fookin Pop Idol or whatver with the endless supply of talentless cack dressed in make up…How about sexy thin lady racers (ok you can have a sexy fat one in there too)…That are actually really fast and can beat the guys on the grid.
Its one hell of a task to get into BSB WSB MOTOGP… The perecentage that make it must be so small that theres even less chance of a girl getting through because of how many are in the sport…
Thats most likely it…I reckon there is some serious talent being over looked though.
If I had enough cash (ie. an almost endless supply) to give it a go without it being a financial risk, I’d run a team of women in professional racing, just to see what would happen
Jenny Tinmouth races at British Supersport on a Honda. She is propper fast. And wit supersport being the most competitive class bar the stock 600’s she’s holding her own for sure.
There is a Professional AMA Motocross Championship for women www.wmaracing.com , It’s no where near as broadcast as the mens on though :hehe: . I think it’s mainly due to the fact that motorsport racing was classed as only being for men all those years ago… and huge companies, organisations and compertitions have rised on that basis… the big companies just dont like putting money into things they’re unsure about.
Loads of girls in the club paddocks. I’m sure Gabs knows more names from around the worls of top female racers. I think there are quite a few in mainland europe competing at a high level.
That’s true…There is room then for someone to corner a niche market and get a female racer capable of wining races…Putting money behind her to get a good bike / engineers etc package and run a team.
If you could tie her into advertising women’s stuff, (do a deal where she get’s a cut and the team gets a cut), use the old man bashing style adverts from a few years back on some of the ads…Could work I reckon
