Woohoo! After an ‘off’ on the BCR last year I had my R1 sorted to a rideable condition courtesy of fleabay. After replacing the rear & front subframe The bike was left with gouges in the plastic all down the left hand side from nose to tail, a dent in the tank, gouges in the lens pf the LH headlight and a cracked nose fairing LH side again. What with Yamaha’s extortionate prices I’ve bided my time sniping parts at the cheapest price from fleabay over time and now it looks like it’s finally all come together. Found a complete 2008 fairing in the right colour (Graphite) all original Yamaha for £500. Needless to say I snapped it up instantly. I’ve been riding around commuting to work with my R1 patched up with duck tape (this stuff will hold anything together) for the past year. Cant wait to get it back to looking like it should!

Nice one. I hope to be doing the same sometime as ive got a bit of cosmetic damage I want to get right eventually.

Hi K, yes I was but it wouldn’t have mattered as like the rozzers told me later it goes down as a single rider incident cos I never actually hit the fugger, the driver could just say I don’t know what you’re talking about, bloke just fell off his bike! Not been about much as I was posted just after last years off and now have to commute daily to Sandhurst (41 miles one way for me). I’ve been enjoying the commute on the bike when the weathers been decent though. Will get myself back on the BCR soon.

You do realise that not everyone on ebay is a criminal. I will have a few spares to sell soon which are not thieved but from my own bike. I bought a petrol tank which has a slight graze on the paint job but hasn’t even been on a bike and is otherwise brand new. I bought a LH head light from a salvage place on ebay which was off an R1 which was written off, even had pics of it. I’ve now bought a fairing from a dude that’s put a carbon race fairing on his. I’m not for one minute suggesting that thieved gear doesn’t make it’s way on there but I have no reason to disbelieve nor distrust these complete strangers with a good ebay reputations. If I had to purchase this stuff from Yamaha I’d be out of pocket to well over a grand instead of well under it. I called a dealer yesterday to get a price for anew chain & sprocket kit for my R1, OE kit was quoted at over £200, fugg that when I can get renthal spkts and a sigma xring chain for 140!!! You do the math(s) mate.

Well done, I’ve been keep an eye out on Ebay for about 6 months now for a nose cone and left hand fairing for my CBR after a little off at the end of last year, I haven’t had as much luck as you though
