Hi Guys,
I’m looking at getting a second bike next year for some off road fun, what bike do you guys recommend ?
I’m biased, DRZ 400S, great all-round bike for enduro/dirt and city use. There’s sharper options such as the Yamaha WR460, or if you want to jump in at the deep-end, the KTM’s are the daddies. This is Rod’s territory though really.
Prices go from £2500 upwards for decent hardware (that’s what my DRZ was). It was the best decision I have made in my biking career. This bike is so reliable, flexible and cheap to run. 400cc Single-Cylinder, four-stroke engine. Goes and goes.
My DRZ the week after I got it:
Yea see your bike at the weekend jay, must say it looks good, def the sort of thing i am after, somthing for on and off road, for that sort of money you can’t go wrong… Do you ever go green lane blasting ? From what i have heard there are miles of green lanes in the uk, sounds like a recipe for lots of fun
I don’t get out on the muddy stuff anywhere near as often as I should, or would like to! I’m going this Sunday with a few friends to a track though, but badly need to get some experience, I’m a complete novice at off-roading, it scares me to be honest
Get a real bruiser!! Honda XR400… You could double back flip it with a twisting pike to finish, straight off a cliff and it’d still kick first time! Bullet proof if serviced well… Bit heavy and certainly not as nimble/agile as the Suzi or Yam… but still a great bike.
Kick-start? This is the 21st century, Floyd! We have electric starts nowadays.
MMMmmmm think i might wait before i start backflipin n pikeing…LOL the only pikeing i do is in the winter with a fishing rod.
“The only piking I do”… LOL
I’m tempted to move up to Amersham soon, and I’m looking at a flat with a garage!! Hooray.
So something small and cheap (I know the very girl) to ride to and from the city is likely to be purchased soon after.
A CB 500 Sport (the one with fairing) of some vintage was top of my list. Almost proper bike size and a million couriers / race series can’t be wrong.
