Who has been made redundant?

18 people at my work were made redundant today, with me being on of them!

Now I have to look for a new job, but I’ll be joining the queue along with 1,000’s of other Architects.

Bad time these … might have to find another field until things get better.

About 8 months ago yes, but got another job 1 month later, phwew. And had a good time relaxing during that month, good luck in getting a new one fella

Ouch. :pinch: Best of luck with your search.

ouch indeed … I’ll have to cut back on my travels and holidays. That’ll be the hardest thing :frowning:

Sorry to hear this Zine. I wish you luck in the search for something new

Join the club mate :frowning: got the chop in December (I worked for Woolworths head office) had a couple of interviews since, problem is the markets saturated at the moment
Good luck fella.

bad news m8:crazy: i’ve been out of work for 6weeks, carpenter

got work this week and pos next week but its not good out there

hopefuly you’ll get something soon.

Sorry about that, I and about 1500 of us are waiting for redundancy in a month or 2…

two of my brothers were made redundant this week. funny as the other works for rbs but is fine at the moment.

Architects do seem to have it bad at the moment, unlucky mate. My architechy mate finds out on Friday if he gets laid off from his place too - they’re chopping 25% of staff on this 2nd bout of redundancies.

Thanks for your sympathies. I survived the first round of redundancies but didn’t escape this round.

I hope to find something soon.

i was made redundant on 6th Feb, i work in Print…lot sof peopel have been laid off funny enough 18 of us went too.

tough times

Sorry to hear about this. Us architects get the double-whammy…not much financial reward in the good times…first to go in the bad times. We’re still afloat but worryingly clients are starting to hold back payments owed. This is illegal of course but they always do it in times of recession. Not because they haven’t got the money- of course they have…but because they think they can get away with it when clients are getting hard to come by. It’s a tough old world out there. Best of luck in your hunt for a new job.

sorry to hear about it, i am sure things will turn around but for the next few months things are looking real tough…good luck with the searching…cant imagine what will happen to make things better but it must happen eventually…

My best mate gets his cards 3 weeks monday - redundancy sucks :ermm:

sorry to hear that; i hope your search for a new job goes well
same out to everyone else who’s been affected recently

As a fellow Architect, you have my best wishes.

I’ve had 4 notices of possible redundancy in my life (but somehow escaped the chop each time) and even that isn’t nice.

Still, look on the bright side. You only spent 7 years and a huge amount of government money getting qualified to be made redundant.

At least you didn’t didn’t f*** up a country or a bank and get a huge pension.

More seriously, best of luck.

That is lousy mate and sorry to hear about all you other guys too. Sounds pretty bad over there. Have to confess that i ran away! Am still unemployed but my rent is 70 quid a month, beer is a quid and so is dinner in a restaurant. Was thinking of coming back in the next 6 months but it looks like i wont be able to afford it so i may just hide out here until it all goes away!!!

Sorry to hear of redundacies, so far i`m ok but you never know in the building game.

ah so thats why your out there, my mate did it by going to spain but he has found work now, doing his own business in telecoms and just starting to do okay…
