Who fancies trying to break a record and raise money for the poppy appeal

The link below will give you all the information you need to take part. There are 2 objectives: first to break the record for the number of bikers completing a 1000 miles in 24 hours currently held by the USA. Second to raise money to help ex-service people and their families.

Might be interested in that if I have replaced the 500 by then.

Thats about 12 tanks of fuel for me:D

and about 4 or 5 for me

You can count me in! Especially if it’ll help us nick the record from the Yanks!

4 or 5 for me too. Maybe 6, with all that m’way riding.

I’d fancy a crack at this. It’d be a bit of a slog on a 250, but I suppose the idea is that it’s meant to be difficult. And at least my seat is fairly comfy. For all that motorway riding, I reckon I’d need a Bumper Book of Travel Games For the Solo Rider, a big flask, and a lot of music on my phone.

If I actually did it on a 250, do you think I’d get more sponsorship or less?

And, actually, isn’t setting the min no of miles at 1000 a bit cc-ist? If the point of an iron butt ride is to ride for 24 hrs at a reasonable speed (for your bike), then why can’t you do it on a 125 and only do say 500 miles? Personally, I think it would be at least as much of a challenge to do it on a 125 than on a bigger bike.

What the heck do you ride? It would be 12 tanks of fuel for me cause i ride a supermoto that only does 60miles to a tank

I would be interested in that and if you can get MacP then I would definitely do it.

Don’t know if I would want to stretch it out to 24hrs though

Fancy doing a team LB effort?

hmm…ide be right up for this…maybee get somthing going on the side for the LAA…LB team effort…you bet ur sweet arse we could:w00t:!!!

smiled:).

Just had a mail from Paddy the organiser.

sonds good to me…

this looks awesome, this is going to get some serious attention from me, its right up my street.

If we can get a team LB together for this we could set up one of the justgiving pages and split the sponsorship money 50/50 between the British Legion and LAA or set up 2, one for each cause.

I`m up for this, love a leisurely tour of Scotland.

So are you up for being part of a team LB?

Post a list.

I may be up for this for obvious reasons. All depends on if i can get the time off work and im going to have to sort my own route out. It doesnt matter what route you take aslong as you go to each of the check points and being as though i ride a supermoto i dont wana be on too many straights so if i do do it i plan on avoiding dual carriageways and motorways.

OK so far the people who have shown an interest are;

Smiled
Jetstream
Kevsta ( You’ll be fine on the 500, it ain’t a race  )
Wheelz85
Benelli Boy ( You have to do it on your Scoot just to prove it can be done
Baby Polar Bear
MacP ( OK proposed by BPB but I’m sure we can talk him round)
tug 1400
jimblade
buttonmonkey
ASBO

ASBO I’m sure that any route of 1000 miles, as long as it can be verified (sig’s from post offices, petrol stations etc), will count.
