Which exhaust for L4 GSX-R750?

Been thinking about it for a long time and now having found a new job decided that it’s time to get an aftermarket exhaust for my bike. However, there’s the obvious problem - which one!?

I’ve watched what feels like all the “sample” videos on Youtube but none of them really give a good representation as most of them are captured on phones. I want something that’s deep and grunty and not too tinny, especially at low revs. The bike kind of sounds good at high revs already but that’s above 7-8k so I’d want a can that’d make it sound sweet while commuting in the city.

Also, what is the general consensus when it comes to sound - does it matter if it’s a slip on or a full system? Supposedly full systems wouldn’t have the cat but they’d probably be marked as Not for road use, right? Are there garages that don’t pay attention to race use only cans? Would I need Power Commander if I got some full system?

Thanks in advance!

For Suzukis the best option is Yoshimura as suzuki and yoshimuru have worked together forever.
Akrapovic are also very good exhausts. If you want a full system I would go for either of those.

A can will give you extra noise but no noticeable extra power but you wont need a power commander or Bazzaz unit.

A full system will require you to remove the set valve and all the wiring as well as pull the set valve wire from the ecu (very simple job) to avoid having an Fi light on. You will require a Power commander or Bazzaz to get the full benefit from a full system and a bit of dyno time to set it up but dynojet do have generic maps on there site but nothing as good as a personal map done on a dyno. Youll get a deeper sound from a full system over a can too.

Although it is a legal requirement for new bikes to leave the factory with a Cat, emissions tests arent on a bike MOT yet so removing the cat wont fail the MOT. But that may change in the future

If you get one with not for road use written on it this can be polished off easily with a dremel and polishing pad

When choosing your fuel control unit take a look at the Bazzaz unit its a bit more expensive but it has traction control and a quick shifter

Get an Arrow system
Or if you like pain get a racefit growler
What ever you get you will need to factor in dyno work either a re flash of the ecu or a power commander and possibly a free flowing air filter and different spark plugs

want low down growl? buy a V-twin

Get a working Vee Twin

You would be best going for a slipon as the easiest route and cheapest and if you can get rid of the cat and add the O2 eliminator
If you go for a full system on your bike can get expensive as you have the full compliment of emission shyte and the exhaust power valve

Even tho mines a 1000cc it’s had the same emission crap as yours
Mines lost the cat,has a O2 sensor eliminator, and either a due micron or a single race fit exhaust all taken care of via a power commander
It still has the exhaust power valve

I removed the cat from toonys 600 the other month.

The valve stays in situ but it stays open once you remove the actuator and the cables, therefore giving it the same affect as no valve at all, you can get away with an 02 eliminator by leaving the lambda sensor plugged in and removing a wire from the plug that goes into the ECU, you just pull it with a set of long nose pliers and it comes out with the pin still in tact so it can be put back in place at a later date, you then tape it off so it doesnt short out.

I’ve got the arrow full system, on the cbrr and to be honest I hate it.
It does have power commander and dyno thing.
But sitting it a box waiting for Pin to fit, is a SP engineering gp moto.
Had one of these on my Ninja and loved the sound and style.
It will be fitted this weekend.

The one I’ve “bookmarked” so far is SC Project’s GP M2. It looks nice but most importantly seems to sound nice from the very few videos on Youtube. Does anyone know anything about this company? Must be alright if Scott Redding, Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden opted to use them. SC’s CRT exhaust sounds freakin’ sweet: http://youtu.be/oqdmD2GIurI

A full system is tempting but being the way I am I don’t know how long I’ll have this bike for and if I spend almost a grand on an exhaust and then more on dyno and Power Commander and what not, it might be a bit too big of an investment for a couple years or so of having it. Not sure, maybe I’m wrong

On the other hand - how about buying a slip on and the headers separately? I’ve seen a few websites sell CAT-free headers for my bike, e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131333894514. I wonder if it’s cheaper than a full system.

I’m not sure about your bike but my bike the cat was bolt on and I got a replacment link pipe
For the microns and the racefit connects straight to the headers and does away with the need for a link pipe

As quoted before you can pull the wires and disconnect the servo it’s been written into gsxr folklaw but no tuning/ dyno company recommends you should do it ,theres many reasons why it’s shouldnt be done but if you read up on it theres Mandy’s reasons ppl recommend it
I’ve still got and operating exhaust valve it suits my needs and made no difference on the dyno but the servo eliminator isn’t wallet busting expensive
Power commander sell the 02 eliminator for about £20

It can only be confirmed what’s works properly with the correct dyno work and figures to back it up
