Hey all,
I’ve been on my CBT for newly two years now… getting the most out of it before upgrading to a bigger bike.
My CBT expires in May 2010… im booking up my test for Feb so hopefully pass
Im looking at buying a cheap non-runner bike to use as a project bike, which hopefully il have finished by the time I take my test.
Just wondering what you guys think would be a good bike for a project?.. im looking around the 400-550cc margins… and looking at spending around 300-400 pounds on it… before throwing money at it in restoring and streetfightering.
A couple bikes I have my mind on are, GSX400 (81 model), GSX450 (86 model)… basically bikes from around the 80’s.
Cheers

I know it doesn’t meet any of you criteria, but its’s cheap!
I have a 99 zr7, runs, but needs front calipers, can, clocks, it also has renthal bars:)
will let it go for a few hundred
shameful ad I know, but check out our doglondon zrx400 in this months Streetfighters. Good example of a 400 fighter.
The ZR7 sounds like a good bike to start with, but to be honest - its all relative to whats about at the time and your budget. Anything is possible.
I heard that the dog London kawa 400 was built with a small budget of around £1200 or so
To be honest, I cant remember exactly how much was spent - but that sounds about it. Depends on what it is your after and how much you’ve got. If its a subframe transplant, front end swop with or wothout new yoke? There is usually a lot more involved than you originally think.
