My battery is pretty much knackered. The bike just about starts in the morning as long as I don’t have the satnav connected
Still, it’s the original battery I think (2006 bike), so not too bad.
I called FWR, but they didn’t have any in stock (manual quotes a GS-GT9B-4 battery, whatever that means). So does anybody know where to pick one up from in Central or SE London? Or decent places online which will delivery relatively quick?
Also, any makes/types to look out for, or more importantly, avoid?
Perhaps every winter we should get Jay to start a “battery corner”.
Batteries: The best answer is wherever you can get one off the shelf if it’s pressing.
I always start by ringing the three nearest Halfords branches. It’s not quite the right time to find you can get a decent discount in NW10 if you’re in SE9 and the bikes not going to start.
Bike still starts, just takes a bit convincing after she’s not ran for a couple of days, which doesn’t happen that often. So It’s not that urgent, just want to replace it before it becomes urgent.
Smart move. Modern batteries don’t give much of a warning before they go on complete strike. And your right, three years is about the time they seem to do it.
Much as it hurts to spend the money, I’d sooner do that a little early than get stuffed with a dead bike in some scumbag area.
I’d still start with Halfords. They mostly sell Varta at pretty good prices for bikes.
Their own (heavy duty) brand for cars are much better. Got nine year in the family Espace out of one of those and it was still good after the car had pretty much given up.
