Need to get some stuff for my upcoming service!I got the bike 6 months ago and the vendor told me it had reently had a service - I’ve only done about 1800 miles since but was wanting to do a service myself so I can get to know the bike a bit more - at least this way I’ll DEFINATELY know the service has been done.
Those 1800 miles were all mostly in rush hour london traffic so I reckon the air filter is well dirty by now.
I need:
Oil and oil filter
Air filter
Front pads
Spark plugs
Seen lots of sites on the internet I could use but wanted a recommendation so I know im getting a good deal and they’re not going to run off with my credit card details!!!
Any recomendations out there greatly appreciated - cheers everyone!PS - Las time i got everything from Chaz BIkes but found them a bit pricey!!!
I buy 90% of my stuff from ebay, as long as you know exactly what you want it comes up cheaper nearly every time and I dont have to go to the local suzuki dealer and be tempted to buy a new bike:D
I was disappointed when I phoned Protyre on friday for a price on a pair of new tyres. They are £50 dearer than Essential:w00t:I get most of my service items from either wemoto or m&P:)
O.K. For somethings you are stuck with OEM spares but for things like brake pads, filters, plugs, sprockets, chains there is a whole world of better products for about the same price or the same products at better prices on the net.
I’d rather trust a set of EBC pads than some east German stuff in a BMW box.
And don’t start me on Aprilia spares prices and “availability”.
If your gonna keep the bike for a while, might be worth considering K&N air filter. Don’t come cheap but you only buy the air filter once. (And for some silly reason, they are a selling point when you come to change bikes.) Any decent oil filter manufacturers products are as good as the OEM. I can think of 5 or 6 spark plug manufacturers that I would trust to get it right.
I’ve got “bargain pack” deals from suppliers before by buying everything from them including the oil I couldn’t get from Halfords.
ebay all the way, or for expensive parts www.motomummy.com in the usa, even paying the custom charges it works out sooooooo much cheaper for me so far!
My bike is sponsered by ebay, from the twill carbon to the rear sets. In fact 80% is from ebay!
For those of you still interested, I managed to get all this for £83.79 DELIVERED!!
2xPair of sintered fornt pads
1 Air filter
1 Oil Filter
5L Semi 10W40
Nothing fancy - all standard aftermarket products.
Replacement copper washer for sump plug
Didnt end up getting the plugs as I found out mine has Iridium ones and they hardly ever need changing apparently - plus they said that new ones would cost between £19 and £25 EACH!!!
Got the air filter and copper washer from David Silver Spares
and the rest (£60 delivered) from BikeBitz UK on ebay
