Where can I buy 100% water proof clothing

I got some water proofs from lidol for 12.99 but the water gets in the crouch and then every where…

I spoke to a biker once and he was wearing a green rubbery kind of kit and he told me that you cannot get any thing 100% waterproof for less than £100 which he had spent. Is that true? has any LB member got good gear for less please let me know and from where?

what do you expect for 12.99 from Lidl :ermm:you get what you pay for.

…hein gericke waterproofs have never let me down.

I bought some camo pattern textile trousers with armour knee pads etc last autumn and used them all winter, didnt get wet once - good for £30! I bought them from Motoden, 2 of my friends have the same and they say the same.

i always get waterproofs from army & navy surplus stores mostly good quality & fair priced

spent £550 in there today on jacket, trousers, boots and gloves. The jacket and gloves gave in after ten minutes in the rain!

got a PCV coated trousers and jacket, trousers for 15 quid in J&S Greenwich, jacket bought in Germany a couple of years ago

they work well when raining but need to take them off as soon as it stops - not breathable at all

probably big black rubbish bag would work similar

I`ve got Hein gerricke jacket and spada trousers which never let the water in.

After reading the tests in Ride last year, I bought the two piece set from HELD.

Bought them from a seller on eBay for approx. £50 (trousers about £19, jacket £30)

I have ridden in virtual monsoon weather and they have never leaked. I would get a larger size though. I bought large trousers (have 34" waist) and over my armoured trousers they are a wee bit tight…

i’m currently in the process or trying to get an exchange on some ‘waterproofs’ i bought at the beginning of this year. i spent nearly £500 on ixs jacket and trousers from j&s and it leaks after about 30 mins in the rain.

from what i understand you get a 12 month guarantee at j&s. dunno if other shops are the same. might be worth trying if you’ve spent £££ on non-waterproof waterproof stuff. anyway i took it back for an exchange last weekend to which i was told i should wash it with that tech wash water proofing stuff. a quick call to j&s customer services yesterday after my morning commute with wet arms to explain that a jacket ‘worth’ £350 shouldn’t be doing that after 9 months and the nice man agreed. they’re going to send it off to goretex for waterproof testing and if they confirm my complaint i’ll get an exchange.

gonna go the leathers and waterproof oversuit after that i think. that should work.

I have a Hein Gericke 2 piece oversuit and has always been good, fold up nice and small too so it can go under the seat.

Waterproofs purchased about 5 years ago from an outdoor activity store (millets or something like that) for about £30.

Have never got wet. Only this year did the seams start to fail, but that was in the worst rain I’ve ever ridden in and that rain caused all the floods earlier this year and even then that was minimal.

Textile waterproofs only remain so if treated and looked after. My textile stuff I’d probably only wear if I know the rain will be light, anything worse, full waterproofs.

I think my gear is peter storm stuff, breatheable too.

AlipineStar - El Nino 1 piece oversuit. 79 quid and fits over leathers.

Warm and dry

Thanks for the advice I have seen many riders and couriers with the camo trousers.I am sure if the courier wear them then its good. also where is this motoden…thanks

I wear a rubber thong and cover myself in duck fat. Works a treat. Oh hang on I may have dreamt that…

Ha ha!

I ordered them online from www.motoden.co.uk but if you want to get them instore I think they have a branch near Shoreditch but there will probably be a list of the shops on the website.

They are currently running a promo on a free neck tube (see website)

ok thanks

be careful when doing this, i sprayed a set of my old textile trousers with a waterproofing spray around the crotch & leg area where they were leaking and it made them as slippery as hell on the seat when i next used them in the rain

I can second that!I used nic-wax. Stinks horable but does seem to work!

Depends on construction. Many have the waterproof membrane between the outer and inner layers. This will mean that the outer layer will (after a few months, and unless you proof it, like you say) soak up water (which isn’t pleasant, and can add to wind chill) but you won’t get wet inside.

Rukka . . . Excellent but not cheap
