Whats with the bloody slalom

Whats with the bloody slalom in the morning?

Its started to annoy me like crazy!!! SO your filtering through steady traffic at a reasonable pace, and the idiot on the bike in front seems to be weaving left, right, left, right like a bloody slalom. However on a larger bike with mahooosive wingmirrors i seem to be going in a gentle straight line for the same gaps??? Its like watching the start line up for the GP when they warm up their tires???

Thing is, it annoys the heck out of all the car drivers as they have to touch their brakes as they dont know where he’s going next???

as said in the title… fugging ejits

Lol, know what you mean, only do the commute once a week but thats enough to see the same idiots your talking about.

bet you wont call them idiots when a car makes a dive for a gap and he is already far enough away from it to react.

why filter close to cars if you have a gap to the side, gives you more room to anticipate and react.

i commute every day and my mood obviously dictates how i ride.

BUT i often love riding fast through traffic and filtering like an ‘eejit’ :stuck_out_tongue:

the last thing on my mind is whether it annoys the car drivers.

Don’t really CARE what they think because they all drive like bigger eejits anyway

:hehe:

I’m with photo here, surely swinging the bike from side to side is unnecessary and I also have seen drivers hesitate and be put off by it.

To answer a point above about what happens when a car swerves into a gap, well I appreciate that the rider who has swung into the other lane may be further away, but equally he may be heading back toward the car or there may be cars behind or on his other side going for the gap he is swinging into.

And besides, fancy braking hard while slinging the bike around? In the wet on a greasy dual carriageway? Over manholes? Good luck.

Surely keeping it pretty straight, and therefore passing the cars in as least space / time possible is a good thing?

possibly the guy was just playing…

Dunno mate, different method suit individuals I guess.

It make me cringe though when I see bikes fly past cars with anly a couple of feet to spare when there is a large gap to the side.

When filtering i “weave” side to side if the traffic is stopped/5mph only because when doing so my headlight is also moving about so drivers are seeing it as opposed to riding straight down the middle. I sometimes also flash my headlights when filtering so the drivers can see it in their mirrors they are not using. That and about 5000rpm in first gear helps:D

When the traffic is moving at 60+mph then i tend to sit central to the traffic and filter that way.

agreed with most points above!

Especially with the situation and the speed of the traffic right through to different riding styles. But the ejits in question are just playin for no reason! causing havok behind them. ahhrrr well just another post to stick in the rant section i guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

i just hate the power ranger GP grid attitude to filtering. Save it for the track or twistes on the weekend eh?

oooo i do love a good stir

:P:hehe:

amazing the wonders that a rant/stir can do

hmmm, inexperience at filtering, or just a knob? haha

key to good filtering is smooooothness…

and back brake

Um… was this “plonker” riding a big blue old Kwakker by any chance… ?

Cos there was a fella on a Scoot at Richmond Roundabout who was cracking along keepin pace with me when I know I was doin that…

truth be told I was just trying it out. Haven’t ridden for awhile, wanted to swing the bike whilst I had the space and see how it felt…

Was the scooter at Richmond you Photo?

I used to weave more when I was on my CG as the wing mirrors were at the same level as the cars/vans I was filtering through. On my Fazer I don’t have the same problem as often.
Plus the little bike was more likely to move to any movement and you had to counter it via weave/wobble - on a bigger bike this doesn’t happen as much I have found. (if that makes sense)

what’s one of them then…?

Sometimes I’ll need to move the bike a little while filtering to avoid cats eyes, seams on the tarmac and white lines - which the ZZR doesn’t like much. Would it look like weaving from behind? Maybe a little. But swerving and mucking about? Never.

K

me scooter how very dare you :stuck_out_tongue:

nah i was on a blue/white gixer today. Usually a bandit though.

Im not saying you should’nt swing im not saying you should! but this geesa was just playin around for no reason when it wasnt needed in fact was dangerous… and my point is ive seen a few people do it??? maybe they need more heat in the side wall for all the knee down action you get on the commute ;):stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll admit, as I don’t get my knee down its probably not necessary, but I was just so happy to be out on the bike again, and i have a theory… if I weave I actually get to drive my bike further on every ride…

Fair do’s mate, I was just mucking around, but you really got to trade that Scoot in… very uncool,

rah rah rah scooter rah rah :stuck_out_tongue: I said i was on a bloody gixer!

Anyway Valentino rossi less of the swerving more of the filtering :D:D:D

Glad your enjoying ya bike

ooooh, shes out and on the road now?

when you selling her?
lol
