Whats this blue led light thingy?

Number of times i’ve seen on the front nose of motorbikes a blue led light?

under cover police lol:P

Is this a question?

Yup its a question matey…lol shows how much I know about bikes! seriously though, what is it?

I’d say it’s a blue LED at the front of the bike…

I’d say it was illegal too!!

Yeah, its just a blue led bulb that people put in the headlight because they like how it looks, you can buy expensive kits from places like halfords or really cheap from ebay. I have LED bulbs on my bike they cost about £2.50 with a switch and i fitted them myself.

Naughty and not at all nice.

wait till you see the plans for my sump guard… and if you know me you wont be thinking why, cause you’ll know how often you get to see the bottom of it

Not always. I have one as my “pilot light”. It’s got bluer the longer I have it which is a bit of a worry but it’s not there to look nice. It’s purely there coz it attracts peoples attention when I’m filtering.

My an angle it just looks like the blueish light from a Xenon. It’s only when I’m right behind that you really notice it… so I try not to pull up behind cars and vans with blue lights on the top. ;)p.s. And yes I do feel a bit guilty when bikes I catch up cack themselves and do a triple take in the mirrors.

Is it 7?

Chunky id say higher than that.

My blue lens covers used to have the same effect, and people do look twice when they see a blue light. What gets on my nerves is these people that wear white lids and ride white tourers with stripes trying very hard to look like police. I think there are lot of those sort on this forum, those that think blue lights are horrifick and the owners are not proper bikers :stuck_out_tongue:

Blue LED lights in headlight housings and under windscreens seem to be the “in” thing at the moment here in Saarf Landan, obviously installed by people trying to fool others into thinking they are police so they move over when seeing them. Seem to be the same people who installed those spinning wheel hubcaps

Presumably if they’re not illegal now, they soon will be otherwise everyone will use them and accidents will ensue, and people will ignore the “genuine” blue lights, including ambulances and fire engines which of course would not be a good thing.

Thats a really good point

I thought they were illegal

those xenon white/blue Leds on cars are blinding at night! I think there are advantages with bikes having them fitted tho

Blue looks cheap and tacky! Just pure gash!

I generally buy good quality LED’s with multi directional beams because LED’s generally have a poor dispersion of light. Upside to having LED’s is that they don’t burn out like filament bulbs and they are a lot brighter; so good at night since is a focused spot of light.

I’ve got HID Xenon lights fitted to my FireBlade and they make all the difference. I’ve chosen a colour temperature that doesn’t take the **** - 4300K which ought to be more like daylight, although there is a slight blue hue to it. 8000K lights look more like an azure and actually emit less light!

But each to their own, clear white LEDs are good for visibility combined with HID’s.
