what would you want from your ideal dealership?

just asking and no arguements please

approachable , knowledgable people ,

you gotta be able to trust them to be able to help you out

A bike shop that calls you back.

A bike shop that doesn’t rip you off.

A bike shop that sells bikes at under invoice value hoping that they’ll hit their bonus at the end of the year.

A bike shop that sells you clothing at 25% off and lets you “return” stuff under warranty after 11 months.

A bike shop that doesn’t charge you for a service and then just wipes over your bike and adjust the break and clutch levers so it feels like you’ve done some work.

A bike shop that always has a loan bike.

A bike shop that always has a full demo fleet and lets people with only a cbt test ride scooters!

Most people go skint before they learn most of this!! ( part 1 of 25)

The dealer i use is the best i have delt with, he is always there to help and nothing is to much for him.

A friend of mine and a member on here Mrchips was in Belguim and his bike broke down, he rang John Thompson and said what the problem was, JOhn got the part got the part sent straight to him by bike and then jump in his car and drove to Belguim fixed the bike and came back.

Now you tell me a dealer who would do that to a loyal customer.

Buy sadly he is selling the buisness and retireing to France, so i have to look for a new dealer. But i`ll never find a dealer like his.

Salesmen who know something about bikes and don’t look down their nose at you

Technicians who know what they are doing

Parts people who know what they are talking about

Reasonable labour rates

Friendly staff without the ****ty attitude that a lot of dealer staff seem to have!

Thanks for posting that, John.

It was far above the call of duty for the dealer to bring out the part (a duff immobilizer aerial).

Another of the manifold attributes of the said dealer is that the mechanics seem to take the customers seriously and always do a proper job, with the proviso that things can go wrong so ‘bring it back again’ - that happens very rarely.

The whole Business inspires confidence in the customers - I’ve phoned with scooter worries and have always received considered reassurance and if they think something needs to be looked-at/attended-to at once, it is.

A dealer who has time to sell me a decent product and provides good after-sales service (when he’s got my cash!) floats my boat.

I shall be looking for another Piaggio Master Dealer when the time comes. I hear ScooterWorld do a good job!

A dealer who provides such good after-sales service he has the confidence that the customers will use him for all future servicing needs, so can afford to sell the new bikes at a very keen rate.

A dealer who does a proper PDI on every new bike - not just bolting on the front wheel, but coppa-slipping every nut and bolt that might need to come off in the course of future servicing, giving the battery a proper forming charge, etc etc.

A dealer who always argues the customer’s case in warranty claims.

A dealer who always has free coffee on tap for waiting customers, and maybe an Internet connection.

Customer service is the key!

Mike

I spoke to westie last about going to see him at Scooter World in Notting hill.

Outstanding service and prices.

Staff that look you in the eye and welcome you when you walk in. Staff that offer assistance and if they dont know the answer go out of their way to find out the answer. Honest reliable advice - I dont like bullsh*tters, arogance, ignorance and attitude. If there was guaranteed best prices on the items they stock it would get my business everytime.

Somewhere convenient nearby to park
I aint hanging around if theres nothing to look at Bling, Helmets, Clothes etc. I might want to buy something you see. Stuff it full to the ceiling and make it worth rummaging. The more you have the longer people are likely to linger and look and eventually buy
Provide a cuppa and a place to chat
Toilet
The latest sportsbikes to tempt me to part with me hard earned cash. Test ride any one!
Decent attitude from the shop assistant. I went in one (Near Hanger lane) and there were at least 2 floor assitants, both Ignored me and approached the couple who came in behind me to offer help. walked out and spent me £500 at J&S in Watford (Before it got done over) Must have been the tatty old helmet I was carrying .
Loyalty card schemePrices on display so I dont have to ask all the time
Forget point 3 & 4 and open a Cafe up next door.

A dealer that doesnt assume that when your a lady you have no idea about bikes/what you are looking for/that you have a boyfriend, husband that is doing the real “buying” and will follow you into the shop in a minute because he is parking the bike.

Customer service like you always receive in Hein Gerike (okay not a main dealer but outstanding Customer service), I cannot fault those guys - they always take the time to really listen to what you are looking for and always go the extra mile. I have been made to feel so welcome on every occasion that I have visited. They have tea and coffee on tap (not to mention biscuits!) have customer toilets, an excellent array of goodies. I went to the one in Stockwell yesterday and spent near on 2 hours chatting to the guys, other bikers we knew that had popped in and generally spending £400 that I didnt have on stuff that I am extremely happy with. along with a part for my jacket that has been lost in a move that they replaced free of charge…

What ever you do don’t look to people like metropolis as an example - they are the biggest rip off merchants IMHO, crap customer service, idiot vulture sales staff, rubbish selection of clothes/accessories, uncomfortable sales area that does nothing to encourage you to browse (which we all know is a killer when you have to wait 40mins to be served in any way) and don’t get us all started on the servicing (or apparent non-servicing of bikes).

I’m so sorry turned into a bit of a rant but the whole “but you’re a woman” thing really gets my goat!

Agree totally

Chauvanistic (or however you spell it) men have no place in my world

georgous looking fit mechanics and salesmen, lovely service, great discounts, good coffee, great customer service, and a reliable honest team!!!

ok ideally I would want pole dancers all around the showroom, and lap dancers as well (cant discriminate!) lol

free alcohol, and most importantly 48 hour test rides on any bike!

Ok, enough dreaming, I will give special recommendation to Bowen Moto in Chatham, Kent.

A fantastic dealer, the many times my bike has been to them for various work after a weekend of abuse (burnt out/shattered/

demolished/disintergrated clutch!), they main mechanic would call me, and have a laugh at what ive done to it this time, quote me

a price, do the work and then actually charge me less than the quoted price!

Also on another occasion, when my alarm had spiked I gave them a call and asked them to come collect the bike or send someone round to fix it, instead the technician talked me through two different processes on how to reset the alarm, which worked. And I can always call them for free advice.

So free advice, quick work and lower than quoted prices get my vote.

And if you really want me in your shop daily, dont forget the strippers

head while ya waitin perhaps?

Cylinder ?

Honesty, integrity and quality.
