One day last week me and hubby went to collect zak from school, down the busy side road we witnessed a ford galaxy reverse into a parking space well i guess they were trying to get in the space but they made a pigs ear of it and basicly turned the steering to tight and reversed straight into the side of a new ford Ka dented the front drivers side wing really badly:w00t:but they shot into first gear and buggered off…well me being me…I wrote down the reg no and our contact details and left them on the Ka’s windscreen, later that afternoon we got a phone call from the owner who ripped into hubby thinking he’d done the damage, once she calmed down and we put her straight on what had happened turns out shes a 18 year old this is her first car so she was terrified of going through the insurance cos of the cost poor gal…but get this…i noticed the ford galaxy parked across the road …turns out it was my neighbour oh and they have no tax so likley has no insurance either…what would you do??? its not like i’ve really spoken to them but should i ? would you go tell them that you saw it all or even contact the Ka owner and tell them where the galaxy driver lives?
report the car for no tax and phone the police and say driving off at the scene of an accident. say you dont want to give your name. i pay my bloody car tax and insurance and would not drive off after hitting a car. dont worry about them being neibours, they would not give a shite about you:)
people like that make me sick i work hard to pay for things like road tax. i get fed up about worrying about other people. i have learned that they dont give a dam about me. i bet it was a woman. if the girl does not go to the police then they have got away with it.
They hit a stationary car this time, next time it could be you, if the driver has no tax or insurance, then get them off the road, they’re a liability.
That needs reporting to the police, and report them to the DVLA (they’ll come along and clamp the car). People like that need to be made an example of.
If you need some support, I could come along and blind them with the hi viz.
Hang the Galaxy driver out to dry !Some Twonk keyed my Subaru last night and in the 18 months since i moved to this place the car has gone from immaculate not a dent or scratch to beaten up car from inner london.
No one ever accepts responsibility for thier own actions, I have hit a parked car in the past…(dont ask) and i parked myself, walked back, knocked on doors and found the owner, apologised and paid for the damage.
Drives me nuts when i hear about stuff like this, oh and i just found out i have a £600 excess on my car! My insurance company are evil, i never knew that vlountary excess was added to the compulsary ! Noooooooooooo
If it was your daughters Ka you’d report it and help and that young girl is somebody’s daughter, probably struggling with her first job and paying bills etc so I’d say help her out
I don’t agree with road tax these days but people who don’t bother buying it probably don’t have insurance either which is seriosuly anti-social so they need to be checked out by plod.
I was hit from behind up London once. Two Nigerians could not speak a word of English. It turns out they did not live at the address given, had no insurance was not even there car. Any way about a year later and a lot of battle the MIB short for motor insurance beuro, paid me out. they said that people that pay insurance, a little goes into a pot for unfortunate people who get hit by someone who has no insurance.
me I just do my usual Simpsons/Nelson “Haha!” impersonation and ignore/ride off (unless a motorcycle/biker was involved).Couldn’t give a damn what happens to other people’s cages, enough times crap happened to mine when parked and nobody ever did a thing to help.
Stuff like that brings aggro and nothing good towards you, costs time effort phonecalls and stress if it ends up to be your neighbour, I feel there is more important things in life than a scratch on someone else’s bumper/wing and have better things to do with my time.
Tell the girl to report it to the police, and let them know you are available for a statement. In cases like this I’m sure the police would be quite happy to take a statement from you somewhere away from your home, and your details would never be disclosed to the person who has committed the offense.
At the end of the day, no matter what happens, this person has knowingly left the scene without having the conscience to leave their details, as well as the fact that they can’t be bothered to pay their road-tax.
It’s not just the road-tax that’s the issue either. In order to drive a vehicle on the road you need to have valid insurance, which in turn you need to have Tax and MOT for the insurance to be valid! Therefore, this person is not only driving a vehicle without road-tax, they have also got invalid insurance!
What if next time they hit a child? :ermm:
Get them off the road for the good of everyone else!
