So my Ducati’s getting some serious love but the service is going to set me back about £700 all in including parts and new tyre.
Console me with how much you guys have spent on services in the past

cant you do anything yourself to minimise costs? (oil, filter etc?)
Probably about 700…over many years! Sounds like a huge amount for a service or are they doing more?
In future I think there’s lots I’ll do. Thing is I don’t doubt it’s coming back to me in good nick, I went to see them before choosing them and they showed me a bike they were servicing on a full service like the one I’m getting and it was almost unrecognisable as a bike it was in so many pieces. The classic restorations they do are also AMAZING, bikes from the 70s that look and sound factory fresh so I think I’ve also gone somewhere a bit more pricey too.
Basically the place I bought it off said that they tend to ask riders how they’re using the machine so as not to have to replace everything and save on service. Bike’s had three owners and I don’t think it’s ever been serviced completely so I think it’s me that’s got to bite the bullet on it.
But yeah, now might be the time to take on that maintenance course I’ve been thinking about
I just spent £280 at a Triumph Dealer, for Service, MOT and new Front Tyre.
Didn’t think it was that bad.
But now need a new Rear Tyre
Bev
That’s more like it! Make me feel better about the future for my children that I’m wasting on fumes and going fast
thats why PJ got rid of the ducati
Yeah, I feel it’s a right of passage. Like owning an Alfa Romeo I’ll do it while I’m a carefree young man and be on a Honda Cub in the next 5 years to compensate
One kidney.
sell it and buy an aprilia :D…you might make a profit
i do it for £700 wow
Actually that wasn’t why i sold the Duc ginger. I had my 1098 serviced at On yer Bike in Ayelsbury and that cost me about £350 it was the second service at Daytona when it all went horribly wrong even that service only cost me £300. What the hell are they doing in the service for it to cost that much mate? Mind you they did say that when they introduced the 1098 they had reduced the servicing costs by 50% so i guess the 999/749/998/996/916 and 748 are still at the higher rate. All i will say is make sure who ever touches it is a fully qualified Ducati technician and a reputable dealer, at least the if anything does go wrong you can fall back to Ducati UK.
Good luck and enjoy the ride home when you pick her up.
As for organs, i found you can survive on just the one lung just make sure you don’t smoke or over exercise:P
The best thing about selling your ‘organ’ is you don’t even have to cut it off! :w00t:
true you could man whore for a wile
I took an ER5 in for a service and MOT. cost me £500+
Well, in fairness to the guys servicing I turned up last night to a machine which is completely different to the one I dropped off. Lots of extra cosmetic detail work too which has made me very happy and the new front tyre has made an amazing difference to the way it rides.
It was a lot of money but it’ll be worth it when I’m in Brussels in May
Buy an SV and put Ducati fairing on it
:Whistling:
Behave! Mine’s a design classic I’m starting a new savings account though to pay for the next service.
I had a major service done on the CB500 with an MOT. The front tyre needed replacing, it needed new pads all round, the rear brake disk was warped and needed replacing, the head race needed adjusting and the fork seals needed and fork oil needed replacing. That all came to something over £800. Mostly just stuff wearing out.
The courtesy wash was free though.
That’s exactly the same list as I have in front of me now and I replaced a tyre too. It’s my Ferrari … it’s my Ferrari …
